Here's a new one for me. After our walk this evening Luke didn't want to come in. Being so hot I was not about to lay out in the sun with him. He ignored the come command, plopping himself flat out on the ground instead. 'Ok, ya wanna play that way?' I thought to myself.... I stood as straight as I could and with a firm voice I said, "Stay." and walked a few steps away. He sat up looking at my intrigued. Again I said, "Staaayyy." and walked to the door. Opened it and stared at him for a moment. He couldn't wait to get up! I gave him the "Ok, Come!!" and he shot up running to the door. And he thought he was slick! :D

Great story!!! What a silly and creative way to outwit your smart baby! :) I often repeat to myself... "You must be smarter than the dog..." Sometimes I am, sometimes I am not. smashicon

The things we have to do sometimes! But I've had a few years practice. I have an amazingly smart (cunning) 4 year old son. I figure, if I can handle this kid, I'm ready for a Boxer! LOL
The best part is, with reverse psychology, they really think they won!

My Dacee does this all the time, when we are out back playing & she wears me out & I head in I tell her to "come" she just stands there and gives me the "aaawwww mmooomm" look. I used to be able to say " Dacee treats" & she would come running till she figured out that it was making her come in even though she did get her treat. So now what I've discovered that works & she hasn't figured it out yet (knock on wood) is when I want her to come in but she doesn't, I have the door open (sliding glass) and say "alright then dacee" & I slide the door shut she sees me walk away & when I peek back she's at the door waiting to come in & does come in. She's such a goof! I've got something over on her right now, one day she'll outsmart me again.

Your welcome, I think that when you say " all right then" with a tone of they might be missing out on something they actually think they are missing out on something. It works everytime for Dacee though.
