Wiping face with paws....

Just had a quick question, recently my 5 month old boxer Skylar started playing with her face/ears alot with her paws, similar to hiding her face but not holding her paws there, kind of just wiping. Is this an indication of something bothering her, hope this makes sense....

Bruce was doing this last week when he was having his allergy attack. He'd wipe at his face with his paws, rub his face along his blanket, and scratch his face until it bled. Poor mite. This was also accompanied by scratching practically every other part of his body, he had raw weeping skin and a very particular odour. Watch your baby, if any other symptoms like this start to appear on top of the face pawing, shoot her off to the vet and quick. :eek:

sounds like it could possibly a allergy. out of curiosity, what are you feeding your dog?

I would definately rule out anything medical first off. Tyson does this alot when he's rolling around and just goofing off.
If he's not itching or anything, could just him "scratching" an itchy spot just because it's itchy.

As Kathysboxer said, she seems to do it when she's on the floor rolling around having fun, I feed her Wellness puppy food, I was just curious since she just started doing it but she appears to do it the most when she's happy. She's going to the vet tomorrow for her rabies shot, I will just ask the doctor what he thinks. Thanks for everyone's input.

When my dog eats chicken with the skin on or anything greasy like that at all he does that for quite a while after aswell as rubbing his face into anything material, the couch a trouser leg etc...

My Alize will put her face down into a blanket, or a rug, and put her front paws down on each side of her face, then proceed to rub her face back-n-forth. It's the cutest thing!

I do agree tho, that it could be allergies. Good idea to ask the vet while you're there.

Kayden is 8 mos and does this also, but she does it to clean herself. Its entertaining, because I swear she thinks she is a cat.
