Dexter and I will go to the training academy all winter for open aglity. And Dexter and Jazz burn off alot of energy just playing in the house with each other.

what about you apartment dwellers? how do you keep your boxer babies entertained in these cold temps? i can't play with them too rough indoors as we're on the second floor and my neighbors can already hear them bounding around all over the apartment . . .

any ideas?

We live in California so it rarely gets too cold for walks (I'm not bragging).

However, when it rains we take the car out of the garage and throw them and their toys in. I try to do my laundry so that they can play and I can still keep an eye on them. There is alot of mischief they can do in the garage so they must be supervised closely.

Hey Vasha,

Boxers will play hide and seek with a favorite toy. Hide something of theirs and encourage them to find it. Tyra has her favorite headless beanie baby that I would hide before we got Elmo. When she would find it she was rewarded with a dog treat and lots of praise. One word of caution: They will dig holes in the sofa cushions if they think the toy is hiding in the sofa.

CAUTION: Never, never, hide anything in the sofa. They never forget and will always search there. Learned that one the hard way. smashicon

Weather is not usually a problem for more than 2-3 days here, unless you are worried about it being too hot in the summer. Then we break out the water hose.

Photos of Indy & his tetherball

I took 25 pics of Indy playing with his tetherball. It took less than two minutes to shoot the roll, that's how active he is with this toy. You can view them by clicking on the gallery button at the bottom of this post.

Apologies to you who would like Inspector Clousseau can say, "I knew that!". But I'm often guilty of assuming people understand what I'm saying because from time to time I do.

Several huge positives about this toy.

1. It is cheap

2. It is durable

3. It doesn't require a large area

4. He can play with it even with snow on the ground

5. He can't break other things while playing with it

6. He can't plop it in one's face to let you know he wants to play, or get your attention

7. You can play with your dog at an activity level you are comfortable with, while your pal gets all the exercise he/she want and needs

8. Once engaged, he is happy to exercise himself

9. It provides entertainment for everyone, even if only watching

REMINDER / CAUTION NOTE THE LENGTH OF PLASTIC HOSE OVER THE CORD. IT PREVENTS THE CORD FROM TAKING A WRAP AROUND HIS LEG OR NECK, BUT SHOULD HE BITE, OR GRAB AT IT, IT WON'T INJURE HIM.

Regards, Tom
