Maybe a doggie water fountain would entice her since she likes the hose. I think they have them where they pour out into the bowl so it would be like drinking from the hose plus itis cool and aerated.

edit: this is what I am talking about http://www.petsmart.com/global/prod...Ntt=fountain&In=All&previousText=fountain&N=2

seems kind of expensive for a water bowl but if you are concerned about her intake, it would be worth it. I think it also goes on sale everyonce in awhile (I know the cat one does, so the dog one should too)

Refilling Water Bowl

Riley does the same thing. He only wants fresh water. He'll drink it if he sees you get it from the faucet. He'll also drink from the hose, shower, or any running water. And of course from the toilet. This does get annoying though either having to let him drink from the toilet or having to daily "water" him.

I found one of those water bowls with a jug attached at a garage sale so that as he drank fresh water would come down. Unfortunately where water is concerned he is a huge slobberer. So, the bowl just quickly fills with slobber and then he no longer wants any. So that didn't work. I'm also concerned about him eating ice cubes in case he swallows them and if eating them hurts his teeth. The water fountains are quite expensive for us!

Right now we're trying something new. We're leaving an empty bowl next to the faucet in the kitchen that is his water bowl. Periodically when we get something to drink we'll fill it and let him drink and then place it back on teh counter. When he does drink he gets a treat. Hopefully we're training him to get it from this bowl so in teh future we can leave the bowl near his food and fill it only a couple of times a day.

We'll see! Good luck!

I use a product called Go Dog. I don't use this at home - but I do use it when were out, especially at agility. Payton doesn't like to drink water when she is not at home... silly girl. When we are doing agility I want to make sure that she stays hydrated in the heat - very important.

So I use Go Dog - it basically flavours the water for her and encourages her to drink.

You can buy this at www.cleanrun.com, here is the direct link to the product: http://www.cleanrun.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=1490&CFID=1138206&CFTOKEN=94983787

I know that there are other products like these on the market but I have not used them... all I know is that my dogs really like this stuff.

Hope that helps.

Two other suggestions

This is simply because we have watched Emma. If she is really dehydrated I would use the hose. I know you do not want to make that a daily thing but better to have her drink from somwhere. We also put water bowls all around the house. She probably has like 5 including 1 or 2 outside. She seems to like to drink outside. We also put a bottle on her crate. Not sure if you crate her but she really seems to like the water bottle. You know the ones with ball bearings that they lick.

Also my other idea is that there is a chicken broth flavored dog gatoraide. Not made by them but it does the same thing just like pediolyte. I would start her off with the full strength then keep adding water to it. Evenetually she may get the hang of it an not need any.

Ciscos vet found crytals in Ciscos urine. I had to get Cisco to drink a lot of water. The vet gave me a HUGE syringe, free! Cisco loves drinking from it! I think he thinks is some some sort of fun toy - like a squirt gun.

I bought a gallon of distilled water - it was gone the next morning!

The squirt bottels and syringes tend to work well as they make getting water down fun for the dog(most of the time). I would stay away from both unless you can find one with low to no sodium. Chancey doesn't drink much either and her urine is very concentrated-almost neon looking. She will drink tons when she's thirsty.

You could try a regular human water bottle with a sports cap - Clover just LOVES to drink out of those. I think she would prefer that over her water bowl. As a matter of fact I take a rather large one to the dog park and she drinks out of that, rather than the facet (she won't drink out of the bowls there, only straight from the facet). Just pop the top and squirt into her mouth.

You could also try a regular spray bottle set to stream - Clover likes those too, and if it's really hot we use that to get her to drink and cool her off.

I'd suggest ice cubes too. I do that when I think Rocky isn't drinking enough water and he ends up drinking the water trying to get the ice cubes out.
