additional calcium source

If you are worried about the bone/meat ratio, you can always supply the cheapest calcium source there is : egg schells.
Dry them, ground them & voilà.
You may give the whole egg in one piece, or grind them in to your veggie mix.
Of course it's always better to have eggs of the farm then from the supermarket, but that counts for everything :D

Cheers,
Tom.

I already add a couple dozen eggs (whole w/shell) to my veggie mix already. How many would I have to add to equal bone?smashicon I shudder to think!

My puppy was on extra shells for a few months and I started to sprout feathers from all the extra eggs I was eating! Ick!

:) Good question.
I really don't know how manny egg schells goes into a bone.
Let me reply on this later...

What I drawed my attention was that you give your boxer 12 eggs a week.
May i ask how long are you giving him this ?
I always thougth 2 maximum 3 eggs a week for a 20-30 pound dog.
Are there any other members who gives their dogs so many eggs a week ?

Cheers,
Laika, Luna & Tom.

Sorry...I should have clarified. I add a couple of dozen eggs per batch. A batch lasts me 2-3 months (atleast one month). So I add 1 dozen per month...this works out to 3-4 eggs/week. That's the same amount as you are feeding.

ha ha ha, sorry!:p

Pitcairn in this instance refers to Dr. Pitcairn, who wrote the book "The Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats" :)
