Why does my boxer eat her bed?

OK I will keep this short. My wife and I are on the third doggy bed in less than a year. Why does my boxer eat her bed? She does not eat any of our stuff and she has plenty (an over abundance) of chew toys but she insists on chewing up her bed and then cries when we have to throw it away. If anyone else had or has this problem I am open to advice on how to make this stop. Thanks.

My Blizzy NEVER in her 8 1/2 plus years at her bed.

BUT my two new pups aka The Brat Pack have destroyed and partially eaten 3 beds..apiece!! I've only had them since 3/17 and 4/1!! But they never destroyed their beds in their crate..go figure.

I don't know WHY they do it or how to stop them. Now they are bedless downstairs as of today. I have to run out tomorrow and get another 2 cheap beds, I hate seeing them lay on the hard wood..doesn't seem to bother them at all, since usually even w/the beds they are mostly laying on the floor with only parts of them on the bed

If you figure out how to stop the bed destroying..let me know!!

Try keeping several toys on the bed if you haven't done that yet. I did it with Syxx's bed and it worked.

Nope, that didn't work for me. They just took the toys off and made a snack of the bed! GRRR.

Solution I used

Well after destroying their beds in their crates and nothing helping I stopped putting them in the crates (the beds that is). I know this sounds dumb, but I used sheets you know the ones for beds and yarn blankets(aghans, SPelling issues) and they don't eat those and if so I can replace them cheap. The sheets are 3 a piece and it seems to work. I have about 4-5 sheets in each bed and one blanket. I don't know why they don't eat these but go figure boxers. Hope this helps.

I think they make something called sour apple that you could spray on their beds. It is supposed to taste really bad and keep lil doggies from chewing on things they aren't supposed to, however I don't know if it would make them not want to lay on them.

Boo scratched his beds until they ripped making them extra comfy and fluffy. Then he would pull all the stuffing out because that is just plain fun!!! I remember one morning coming to his crate full of fluff and could hardly see him LOL! I began getting blankets or sleeping bags at a second hand store for a couple of bucks instead of buying him a new bed each time. Also a folded blanket is much less fun to tear up than a nice pillow fill of fluff. Good luck!
