Why Do They Always Want the Same Thing?

As a new mother of two, I have to ask this question. Why do they always want the same thing? For example, if I am giving biscuits -- they want the same one. Murray will drop his and head for Larry (which I don't allow) and wait until he sees Larry's gone before he heads back for his. I thought at first it was just Murray, but I see Larry doing the same thing. It's as if they feel the other is getting something they're not. When I give bullysticks, I put two down, yet they want the same one. They are constantly supervised, they do not fight, yet it breaks my heart because there is a perfectly good bullystick lying untouched on the floor and someone (it varies) is always chowing down and having a good time with the one they want. So I could have 200 bullysticks, biscuits, etc. on the floor but they have to have the one the other one has?

May be a stupid question but I just have to ask -- Can anyone explain??

dont know the answer but just to let you know its the same thing in my house. Cassius and Otto have to have the same whatever...its crazy!

I don't buy two of anything any more. I was just wasting my money.
If I bought 2 of the same toy, they would fight over one, I have to give them the exact treat, blanket, etc. I guess it is like sibling rivalry.

My boys do the same thing. Beau will drop whatever is in his mouth and watch Bailey eat his before he'll eat his own. I think they probably think whatever the other one is getting must be better even though it's exactly the same.

Max and his best friend Ben always go after the same thing... Still I let them play it out and share. The fun thing is that they usually do share without fight or even a growl!

Mine do the exact same thing. Boxlee will be barking at Tyson for chewing on his bone, and Boxlee's bone can be laying right next to him. Crazy Dogs!

It's the same here, but 1 time....

Tugga took interest in a fuzzy squeaker ball, and Jayda took interest in a hard plastic ball. Neither of them wanted the otherone's toy. It was magic, i couldnt believe it! I would toss tugga's ball and he'd go fetch, and then while he was running back i'd toss Jayda's ball. They kept to their own toy, it was perfect. one would would be fetching, the other would be returning. The world was in order. But good things/games end.

Normally it's like everyone else's house. They want the same one. I outsmart them sometimes and give the two of them 3 treats, it only works sometimes. Then other times, Tugga won't let Jayda have anything. He will take her bone/treat and hog both of them. When he does this i make him share, and he does everytime.

Finally, if they won't come to some kind of an agreement, and share, i will take it away, because that's not how two well mannered dogs are supposed to behave. Usually i just threaten..."I'll take it away!" and they reach an agreement fast. I have had to actually do it, a few times.

It's so strange how they know what you are saying when it comes to a toy or food, but when you want them to do anything else they pretend that they have no idea what you are talking about! I don't have to worry about toys in my house. Bailey doesn't play with them. However, treat time is another story.
