Who has a huge boxer?

Cosmo is 11 mths and he weighs 81 lbs. I'm not sure how tall he is...I'll have to measure him.

I also agree that while there is nothing to disquallify a boxer due to height, it is not a practice that I want to see. The standards are all fairly close, and should remain that way.

Maybe not an outright disqualification, but the standards in most countries stipulate that deviations from the standard (and that includes excess height) should be penalised in exact proportion to the extent of the deviation. So a 29 inch tall boxer should be severely penalised, much in the same way as a boxer more than 1/3 white.

Besides aren't there other breeds such as bull and standard mastiffs that already exist?

Outstanding observation appicon An over or undersized boxer - deliberately bred, that is - isn't a whole lot different in concept to the cockapoo's and other designer trends of the moment. IMO if you want a dog that's larger than the boxer is supposed to be, take a pass on the bastardised versions and buy a bullmastiff instead. Just like a boxer, only bigger

Our boy

Porter will be 1 on the 22nd of this month and is 70 lbs currently. He is very lean and muscular. I'm guessing he'll probably put on another 10 lbs over the next year as he fills out. I wanted a smaller boxer...so much for that I love him, 70 lb lap dog that he is!

I have a boxer pup, he's only 5 months old and wieghs 40lbs..... I think that's pretty big for his age!

What an interesting thread, I do not actually know Busters weight or height at the moment, So I cannot compare, But I thought I would share this with you. Did you know that I only learnt Boxers were medium dogs when I had Bust, untill then I thought that they were big dogs!
It may be because as a small child a school freind had two and they would wait at the school gate. I suppose as a 5 year old they are huge to you, and this memory probably stuck. I actually think their size is a lovely size for a dog, Just perfect really.
Also,when we have been to our mothers house Bust seems tiny compared to her Rottie mix. But compared to my friends tiny mongrel he is a giant! And so I know a day will come when my little kiddies grow up and say "Mum, I always thought Buster was so big and now he seems so small" When infact it will be they who have grown.

I think Brutus is going to be small. He's almost seven months old now and just barely weighs 40 lbs. He's real solid and not too lean-just smaller I guess. His sire is huge at about 90 lbs, but his mother is average for a female. I know he's still got growing to do, but I don't think he'll ever be huge like dad.

Why are so many BW members so keen to see their boxers attain mamoth proportions?:eek:
The boxer is a MEDIUM sized dog.
Medium = not large, not small.
One of the boxers biggest enemies is people who try to breed boxers, outside of the breed standard.
It is extremely damaging to the breed overall, size issues, being no exception.
Be content if your boxer falls somewhere inside the breed standards height and weight requirements as this is CORRECT .

Maybe some people are trying to compensate for something???

Hi,
Dante is about 55lbs. & 21" tall.
My 2 white boxers were on the large size
Sasha was 85lbs before the cancer.
Niki was 92lbs just before he died.

I kinda like the small one because he looks like a puppy all the time.

Muggsy is at 72 lbs and is 30" high. He is a tall boy! I assume he is not done gaining yet since he is only a year old. I am not looking forward to too much weight though. He can already pull me over. Jack is 6 months old and right at 35 lbs. I think he will be smaller than Muggs. When we got him he was malnurished does this have anything to do with future growth?
