White lump under tongue

Gus had a play date with their friend Arthur today, and Arthurs mommy noticed that he has a white lump under his tongue. It's not too far from his teeth, maybe 1/2 to 1 inch away, but it's under his tongue, right in the middle. I touched it, and it's kinda squishy, it's not firm at all. He didn't seem to mind me touching it. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Arthurs mommy is very worried, as am I, but can't take him to the vet until Tuesday since it's a holiday weekend. Anyone's boxer have this before? Anyone have any clue what it could be? She is freaking out that it's cancer. He is 7 years old.

I can't say for sure, but all of Austin's different cancers have been pink. Sending out positive vibes that it isn't anything serious. Please keep us posted.

I would get it checked out by your vet, if it is still there in a few days. It is better safe than sorry.

Ya, she will definately take him on Tuesday, but with Labor Day today (monday) she can't take him right away. She is very worried.
I guess I wasn't too clear.... Its Arthur with the lump, not Gus. Arthur is my doggies boxer friend.

Hi...

Get the vet to look, but there's a pretty good chance it's the canine papillomavirus. A dog wart. The vet said puppies are prone to them, but they usually appear on the gums and inner cheeks, so we can't see them. She also noted that boxers seemed to get them a lot. Our babies get bumpies.

Our Rupert started getting these at about 4 months old on the top and underside of his tongue. They were small (about a millimeter). They went away on their own in a few weeks.

His most recent one was HUGE; it appeared at about 14 months of age and was as big as a pencil eraser. It looked like a piece of cauliflower. It was pretty gross, so we asked the vet about removing it; she said it would likely go away on its own, too, in time. That was about a month ago. It finally came off a few days ago. partyicon

Your friend should have the vet take a peek at it, just to be sure.

It does not look like a wart. My Gus had those before and it doesn't look like that at all. He is 7 years old, so not a young pup. She is taking him tomorrow, so I will let you all know what her vet says.

My friend took Arthur to the vet today, and they said they are not sure what it is. He is having surgery tomorrow morning to remove it. They are worried it may be a melanoma, but are not sure. Arthurs mom is freaking out. Please send lots of those healing vibes to Arthur and his mommy. I will keep you posted when she get the results back. Izzy and Gus love their boyfriend so much!!!
