IABCA, Inc. Show Rules for White Boxer

Hi All, Oh!!! I'm so glad so many people are interested in this :)). The IABCA, uses the breeds organ of standard, so yes the FCI is the standard for the IABCA, but with being more than 1/3 white, only being a FAULT, you can still show and receive title points, with a fault being marked on the critique, so the highest title we can get for our white babies is the National Title, and not a International Title. You must receive 3, V-1 to achieve the National Title. Most often the highest points you can receive is a V-2, but that is OK it is one more step closer to my goal. The AKC see whites as a disqualification that is way we are not allow to show with them, and they use their own standards, or they use ABC, not to sure on the AKC, don't work with them. My babies are Deutscher Boxer (German Breed) and are registered out of Germany (URC), but yes if you have white AKC boxers you can still show in the IABCA. I would love to help anyone out, if you have any more questions, I'll be checking this forum often, it is nice because I get responses from here, very chatty forum J, that’s great because I love to talk and help other out, please let me now if I can be of any help, Thanks Melissa Oh! Very Curious

I am a little new to all this. So tell me (I know this is a touchy subject). Is the fact that they allow, or rather don't disallow white, mean that eventually white boxers will be accepted for breeding? Of course, after passing all test including hearing. Just curious. I read all that information on another thread last night on all the genetics behind breeding. It was very interesting but I definately will have to read that one a few more times.

Anyway CONGRATULATIONS!!! appicon Very neat.

Anyone planning on going to the Antioch show in So.California?

JBBoxerlove: This thread tells you why white boxers should not be bred from. It's not a simple matter of not breeding a white dog solely because the boxer standards in many countries disqualify dogs that are more than 1/3 white or the FCI describes it as a fault that should be regarded in exact proportion to its degree.

FYI - It is not the FCI that sets the boxer standard. It is the German Boxer Club that does that. The FCI is an administrative body (initially formed in 1911) that communicates the standard to the 80+ countries round the world that use the German Boxer standard (it also does things like publish show schedules, translations, results, keep records of the various championships awarded, and provide international protection of kennel names). The rules about what dogs may be bred (and the registration thereof) is the exclusive domain of the Kennel Club or Boxer Club of the country in which the breeding is proposed to take place. Any debate or decision to change rules/ethics/laws regarding breeding of dogs with more than 1/3 white would likewise be taken by the Clubs of each individual country - meaning that if (just for example) Germany decided to allow the breeding of white dogs, there would be no obligation for any of the other 79-odd countries to do likewise. The standard is distinct from breeding rules ;)

gmacleod: Thank you. I read this thread the other night too. It was very informative. I understand some of it and I will have to re-read a few times.

I thought the intent of showing a boxer was to breed. That's all. So I thought that maybe the rules were changing. THANKS again. I am still trying to gather all this in.
