Hi,

I know it's important to use sunscreen on white boxers, and we've been using it on our 5-month-old Izzy since we got her last week.

I have natural baby sunscreen lotion, but I don't feel like I'm getting it on properly. (I'm using it on her ears and other areas of her face that seem prone to exposure.) It just seems to get all gunked up in her fur; I worry she's not getting adequate protection.

Any suggestions for brands that work well or application methods? Thanks in advance.

I have a white boy and I've never used sunscreen on him and I live in Arizona and he's been with me almost a year now (and he's never been burned). You really only need it if there's prolonged exposure, same as you would a small child. If they're just going out for 15-20 minutes periodically throughout the day it really isn't needed IMO. Now if you're going out for hours, swimming, going camping, hiking, etc I would, but no sunscreen is 100% safe so I'm not sure I would want to use it on a daily basis. They also make sunscreen for dogs which may work better, or possibly the spray sunscreens as opposed to creams.

Good luck.

I agree with BxrMommieNAZ.
We never used sunscreen on our white boxer. But he was only outside for extended periods of time in the evening or during the day, we would play in the more shaded areas of our yard.
So unless Izzy is out in the sun for extended periods of time, it may not be necessary.
