Super Boo

Completely Boxer Crazy
Skye's a super-puller and to make it worse--he likes to lunge at people, dogs etc. I have to take both dogs for walks by myself and if they saw something, they would literally drag me. I tried the halti and the sporn. Skye has a very short nose and it was either digging into his eyes or he would just brush it over his muzzle. Sporn harness was: A. totally hard to put on and we couldn't leave it on him off leash and; B. rubbed his skin off under his arms--even with the fuzzies covering.

Well the Sense-ation works great!! So good, in fact, we bought one for Boo. They are easy on and off and do not rub. They also now walk next to me and not out front. The test was when I took them to the barn where I keep my horse. Usually they are out of control and do not listen. My horse trainer was stunned because they were so calm.

2 weeks ago I bought the gentle leader easy walk harness and omg it was the best 30 bucks I ever spent. Chloe even at 4 months is a really bad puller and we have tried a few different non pulling type of harness's and she hated all of them until this easy walk one. It doesnt bother her at all wearing it and her pulling completely stopped as soon as we put it on her. We have had a lot of different people stopping and saying they have never seen a puppy walk so well on a leash. We even tried her regular harness on her last night when we took her for a walk and she walked right by our sides the whole time. Good luck!! =)

The sense-ation one looks very similar to the easy walk harness. I'm thinking on giving Doja another two weeks or so on training her to walk nicely on her regular leash. She seems to be making progress by leaps and bounds. last night I took her out, it was dark outside, and she saw a whole bunch of poeple in the parking lot... Usually, should would have gone crazy, but I made her sit pretty and just waited for the poeple to go. They took a long time, so she just sat there like a good girl. She was trying to bark, but I was telling her , no, be nice..... mommy said no... and she stopped barking and just sat there and watched. THey didn't leave right away, so we just walked right past them. I keep her lead really short and close to my side so she has no room to wander off. This seems to work. I just constantly tell her shes a good girl, and give her praise as we made our way torwards the potty area. She barked like once or twice, but the majority of the time, she was looking forward like she should be, and was right by my side like she should be.

I really thought that training her to walk nicely on her lead was going to be this uphill never ending battle. And lucky for me, she seems to be picking it up so fast. Its only been about two weeks or so and she has made at least a 40% inprovement. She amazes me.... When we're inside about to go outside, I tell her to sit, she sits till she has her collar and leash on, I say okay, we step out the door. If I need to lock it, she sits right at the top of the stairs till I lock the door and tell her, okay, lets go......

We go down the stairs, she lets me lead, she even waits for me to go ahead of her. And she just walks there like a pretty girl should.....

I am so excited to take her on walks all around the neighborhood, as soon as we have this mastered. People will be able to appreciate her for her beauty and stop thinking shes some sort of ferocious nasty beast. It really upsets me when people make comments or give her dirty looks.

Plato

Boxer Pal
Easy Walk Harness

When we adopted Plato he came equipt with one of those Martingale collars which completely had no effect on his pulling. He would rather pull and choke himself to death, than stay by my side. Needless to say listening him gasp and choke as he pulled me along on our walks really took the fun out of it!
I next purchased a regular run of the mill harness. While it didn't stop his pulling, I was at least able to control him better. I still had to use quite a bit of strength to stop him from going after every rabbit and cat that he lays his eyes on - I really had to be on my "A game" for our walks!

I just purchased an Easy Walk harness from our obediance trainer two days ago, and I can't believe the difference! Plato now walks right by my side at my pace!!

i tried the Gentle Leader and it was ok for my crazy puller of a dog, but the muzzle look did bother me. . .but it works pretty nicely overall.

we had used a variety of collars and harnesses on a daily basis (water use, dog park use, etc.), and i didn't figure the Easy Walk would be much different, but i still wanted to try something to contain him.

i saw the sense-sation in the store, so i bought it. it did nothing. it's awkward and flimsy and i all but gave up on the idea of slow, peaceful walks.

Then a guy at the dog park recommended the EW again. it wasn't in my local pet store, but i read some good things about it and ordered it online to try it out. i was very skeptical.

but what a HUGE change! now when we walk, he's right there with us on a loose leash. . .if a dog or something really cool walks by, he still wants to lunge at it and hug and kiss it, but the rest of the time, he's a piece of cake.

we don't go anywhere without it.

I guess I'm kind of skeptical about the EW harness as a regular harness has never made any difference, and I just don't see how the EW harness is much different. But, if you say your dog is a crazy puller and it worked, that leaves me some hope :) I am continuing training her everyday, without any of these devices, seems to be working. Hopefully it will continue and she will get better and better everyday.

mosley pulls real hard on the regular harness...but bites the leash if I hook it up to the collar. do you all think that he will have the same problem with biting the leash on the easy walk harness since it's latch is in the front?

My Thor is a crazy puller too. He is almost a year now, and I'm scared that when he is done filling out that he will be able to get the better of me when we go for walks. We have tried the halti's for a while now it really slows him down and we can't walk with out it. But Thor and his sis really hate the halti's. They spend most of the walk trying to get them off. And Nieve (Thor's sis) tends to rub raw where it goes under her eyes. I feel so bad for her. We've been looking into finding a harness of some sorts, anything that would help stop the pulling. I love showing off our babies around the neighborhood, but people tend to shy away thinking that they are mean. But they really aren't, they are so friendly and love to give away kisses. I'll have to look into some of the harness's mentioned earlier when I get back to the states. I'd rather see them in person, than try to order off the internet.
