Dodge is almost 6 months old and I still put him in his crate at night to sleep. I did this at first to give him a place to feel safe in and to keep my house safe from him : ) (I'm a pretty hard sleeper and wouldn't wake up if he started getting mischevious). I would really like for Dodge to sleep in our bedroom (on the floor, on a dog bed), but I'm afraid that if he has more room to roam he may decide to use to bathroom at night. Any advice, experiences?

Max is almost two and still sleeps in his crate. You could try putting the crate in the bedroom with you and then gradually try letting him be out by himself with the bedroom door closed. I'm just afraid Max would get into trouble if left out of his crate at night.

Roxy slept in her crate in my bedroom until she was around 6 months old also. I found that she was very trustworthy in my room with the door shut. I dont think I'd want her roaming the house at night but shes done very well from day one in my room with me. We've never had an accident except for once when she was sick.

Cassius has slept in our room since he was about 6 months old, once he was potty trained. We started off with him on the floor on his big dog pillow beside the bed, but becuase he was still smallish in size, he actually spent more time on our bed inbetween us, which was fine, but now that he is 11months old and about 65lbs and we only have a Queen size bed, there really is only room for 1 human and him, believe it or not some nights one of us does go to the spare room if he is sleeping with us.
So now, we have him sleep on his pillow for the night and let him join us at about 4:30am for the last 1.5hrs of sleep time. He actually wakes up at the same time each morning and joins us. He does sometimes wake up in the night to stretch and walk around, he does try to jump up:rolleyes: , but we are both light sleepers, so we wake up as soon as we hear him move. If he does require to go potty we will take him downstairs for a quick pee :o

Tank is 6 months he still sleeps in his crate. He didnt like to at first, but after I put some really comfy blankets in there he doesnt want to wake up in thie morning! We tried him in our bedroom just on the floor next to my bed. we had to keep the bedroom doors closed because he would wander around the room a little at night and you all know that boxers love mischeif :D We never had any potty accidents. (but then again we have NEVER had one since we got him at 7 weeks!) We eventually moved him back into the crate because he kept waking us up, whenever he heard any kind of noise outside whether it be nothing or just a car driving by he would start barking. He usually doesnt do this but I think that since he was sleeping in there it made him more protective of us. So, for now he's in the crate.

Trinity is just about 8 months and since the night we got her she's always slept with my husband and I :o Luckily she's never had an accident or anything like that. She very rarely even gets up in the middle of the night. I just make sure we take her out right before she goes to bed, and we normally don't let her take any naps from the time we get home from work till the time we go to bed. By the time we go to sleep she's normally pretty tired. When the weather was warmer, sometimes in the middle of the night she would get up because she was warm but all she would do is go to a cooler spot in the room. I do make sure the bedroom, bathroom, and closet doors are closed just in case. And I always make sure there is a bone in our room she can chew on in case she does wake up, which hasn't happend yet! I normally have to wake her up in the morning to go outside smashicon

Molly sleeps like a rock right in-between mom & dad in the bed. Thankfully she is a little girl @ 47lbs. so it is like having a very warm teddy bear that kicks occasionally.

Sleep in a dog crate!!!! You must be joking. All 85 lbs of Tyson sleeps in our bed every night.:o Five will try to as well but most of the time she goes to my sons room because he is not such a bed hog.

Thanks for all of the advice. I would love for Dodge to sleep with my husband and I, but we only have a full size bed and our 2 year old pug is already accustomed to sleeping in the bed. I know there isn't room for all four of us. Besides my husband isn't able to get much sleep in with Chevy in the bed. I'm thinking of seeing if he will sleep on the floor on a doggie bed too! They could snuggle with eachother.

Keep the stories coming! They are very helpful.

See my pictures! They sleep beside our bed in their own very comfy beds (don't believe their expression, it's comfy, I even open the pillows to fill them more, and when it's chilly, they have their own fleece blanket!).:p
