They love their run & we know they will be perfectly safe & can't get into any trouble whilst we are out. The run is always padlocked as is the back gate. It has shelter from the weather & plenty of shade for when the weather is hot.

WOW!! Wish we had a big backyard to do that! Very nice :D

When Baxter was younger, age 0-2, I placed him in a crate when I left. since he has turned 2 I leave him in my house. I never come home to an accident or anything ruined. The only thing he does is takes a certain rabbit from my daughters room and places it downstairs in the living room. I don't know the meaning behind this but if he feels he is getting " revenge " for us leaving him by doing this, more power to him. He is never left for more than 2-3 hours at a time though, I am a stay at home mom and usually he travels with us. If we go away ( for the day or longer) my mother keeps him. I think the crate is the way to train them, some find it useful through out the dog's life, mine just seeemed to outgrow his.

Rebels safe place

Fido well stay in the yard it is all fenced in 6ft with a lock on the gate. We keep Rebel in the kicthen with a gate . He might stay outside when he gets bigger .I worry if I leave him out he is still to small to me .Rebel loves to stay out side during the day .He will lay in the shad in the cool grass and take a nap.I know Fido will stay in the yard he will not dig he is happy where he is. Rebel is so nosey I dont know if he will try to dig out .I have a couple of steping stones along the bottum of the fence line .You never know with a pup this young:D I like to be safe then sorry:cool:

when were are not home

Ours are in one of the bedrooms that has a futon with a bowl of water. We put baby gates up and they respect them, they could easily tear them down if they were inclined. The only reason I have the baby gates is because they might get bored and get into our cat box, they do very well, we stopped crating almost a year ago..

sometimes they do get run of the house now too...We don't have a doggie door because of our kittys...

Rowdy plays with his Beagle sister in our 1/2 acre fenced back yard. I waited to get Rowdy until I replaced the old rickety fence with Fort Knox. They have a covered patio with a dog house under the patio cover. They are usually chasing each other, chasing cars going down the alley(from inside the fence) or sunning themselves. If the weather is hot, they lay down under the trampoline in the grass.

Ozzy and Ryker have the run of the house so far, so good. When it gets nice, they can stay outside, they have a yard along the side of the garage, a lot of trees and grass, place to dig etc shed to lie in and will have a kiddy pool, if you click on my gallery there is one picture of them out in the snow in their yard.(titled outside) surrounded by a 4 ft chain link fence and a 10 cedar hedge.

Tobee, Jake, and our fosters are crated when we are not home. I think Jake could be trusted, but not Tobee or the fosters. Just this morning Tobee and Shanna destroyed a pillow on our guest bed.

Tobee and Jake don't sleep in thier crates anymore though, but Shanna does.

Minx and Blaze stay in their crates. I could leave Minx out she is okay, but Blaze I don't trust yet, he is still too young. I tried to crate Blaze and leave Minx out, but Blaze did nothing but howl and yip the whole time (neighbors clued me in :o oops!), so I had to put Minx in her crate next to him. She doesn't mind, she just goes to sleep.
