When to boxer go into heat?

When do boxers go into heat?

I have never had a female dog before nor a boxer. When I asked my vet he said that she should go into heat at about 9 month and that the signs are swollen bottom and maybe some spot bleeding. So far, I have not seen any signs of her being in heat. (she is almost 15 months). Nor have I seen any changes in her behavior. What do I look for or should I except? I know that this seems like a stupid question, but I want more info. and when I searched boxerworld there were 500 threads and most were about heat outside.

I've heard that they can go into heat anywhere from 6 (earliest) to 12 (at the very latest) months. I don't know personally, we got Asia spayed before she ever went throught that.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but do you plan on fixing your pup?

I would for several reason. Less risk of cancer and she is a very small boxer. It would be difficuld for her to be match to male boxer that would be small enough. But... She is not mine really.
My nephew got her the same month he join the army. He left when she was 4 month and I was going to keep only while he was in boot camp. He did not think about were they were going to send him. He is in Korea until March and then on a base in Texas for 4 month and the to Iraq for 6 months. So by the time he will be based in the US Diabla will be around 2 years and there is no knowing if he will be able to have a dog with him then. Diabla was suppose to go back to her boy when he gets settled. But I am tring to convice him that would not be fair to Diabla. She is SO attached to me. She visted him when he was on leave for a few days and did not eat. She only weighs 46 pounds and lost 5 of that in days when she was gone. Anyway my nephew does not want her spayed.

Aww, you should try and convince him to let her stay with you - you will be the one taking care of her for the next 'however long he will be gone', so it really wouldn't be fair to her at all. That's sweet that she has become so attached to you! :)

You should try and convince him to let you have her spayed anyway, especially so you won't have to deal with puppies and/or all the other things that come with an unspayed pup!

As for why she has not gone into heat yet at her age, I couldn't tell you. I hope someone else has the answer - that seems a little old to have not gone into heat yet, although I could be totally wrong! ;)

I am tring to do both but, it is hard with him being in Korea now. His mom and sister say that he will probally let her stay with me. He just needs to realize that would be best for her. He is young, but does have a good heart. He really want a dog to bond with him. If he had studied up before getting a boxer he would have learned that Boxers bond early. Everyone refers to me as her mom. I refer to him as Diabla boy. You know.. Your boy is coming to visit. She really likes him but after another year. She will be my fur baby in her heart. It is kinda sad. But I think he will come around.

I am very careful she does not get pregant. Not fair to her. Ya know.

definately spaying before her first heat is the best thing you could do for her healthwise. Boxers can their first heat any where from 6mos-2yrs. Many bitches don't come into their first season til later on.. perfectly normal. We're waiting on our Nikki to have her first heat.. she just turned 1yr old today, she is our first female also. ;) believe you me, i would rather not have to deal w/ a heat, but she's a show dog looking to earn her CH. (and possibly if she passes all her tests, she will be bred.) good luck w/ talking to your nephew!

She is cute!

She look a whole lot like Diabla, execpt Diabla white sox are shorter and her ear don't stand. I think that your furbaby would do well. I will be cheer for her in the ring.
