I have decided to switch our 8 week old over from ProPlan to either Chicken soup of Nutro Ultra. When should I begin this switch and how much should i mix the food during the process. Where can i get either CS or Canidae also? and how long in advance should i order it... how well does it keep if i pre order a few 30-40 pound bags... phew lots of questions!!!

You can switch now. Try 1/4 of the new mixed with 3/4 of the old for a week, then 1/2 and 1/2 for a week; 3/4 new, 1/4 old for a week and then you'll be feeding only the new food.

Generally premium dog foods have a shelf life of about 1 year. When you are at about 1/2 of the old left, get some of the new. Try a smaller bag in case your dog doesn't care for the new food (some don't and you'll have to shop around).

Do a search on the internet and look for the brands you are interested in trying. Most all of the food sites will give you dealer locations. You can type in your zip code and they'll tell you who the closest dealer is to you.
