I already am a little bit and I just got him today. But what about crate training? Ringing a bell to go outside etc? Is there such a thing as too soon?
Nope, it's never too soon to start training your pup You should certainly start that from the outset (because she'll be learning from you whether you're actively teaching or not - so you might as well be teaching the things you want her to know).
She can learn to sit, down, fetch. She certainly should learn (start to learn - it's going to take a few months) about housetraining. She can learn belltraining - though again, it will take a while to catch on. Really, she can start learning anything you want to teach her Just remember to keep training sessions short and, most importantly, fun! That's fun for both of you
I agree with GMac. You need to start early. I started mine as soon as I got him. I enrolled him in a class once a week and everytime I take him out for a walk people cannot belive how good he is. I can leave him in the "sit and wait" with people and ditractions and walk away he will wait until he is called to move and he is only 6 months old. Boxers are very smart and are quick to learn but they have a short attention span so make it fun. Good luck.
As soon as I brought Maxwell home I started to work with him. He had to sit before he ate. Then he had to wait to be told he could have it. Now he sits, down, wait, stay, and we are working on leave it. They are definitely smart and want to please us so bad.
