I usually don't put a coat on Mugsy until it's 20 or below. He warms up pretty quick, and I don't want him to overheat. He actually doesn't seem to mind the cold right now. I know he will the further we get into winter.

Cami's coat goes on as soon as it hits the 30's. I don't take her out for walks if it is in the teens at all. We will play in the yard for 10-15 minutes at a time when it drops below 20.

I just bought the cutest little pink sweater from Old Navy and gave it to a friend's darling little boxer girl that just had her 12th birthday! It was only $12 and it's adorable! I'm buying the dark green ones for my boys! They loved it when I made them try it on....today it's in the 50's here in AZ and the boys had the shivvvvers when they ran out to go potty this morning! SO funny....we are all such WIMPS! ;)

Well, wimp or no wimp (and I do admit to being one), I've decided on the letterman jacket at Petsmart that I saw online. It's even modeled by a boxer. Soooo cute! Since I walk the babies separately, I'll only get one and they can share.

I feel for those of you who live in really cold climates. It was close to freezing here this a.m. and we just don't have the clothes for it, much less the fortitude. More power to ya! Especially those of you who walk your dogs in it. I'm afraid I'd have to say "Sorry babies, you're out of luck for the winter!" LOL!

Southern California buddies: Thanks for the support! It's nice to know I'm not just wimping out on my own and you're feeling it too. If this weather is any indication of what our winter is going to be . . . we might think about a coat for ourselves too! I normally don't ever own one cuz there's usually no need.
Thanks for all the input guys! Have a great holiday season and stay warm!

It's going to be 30 here tonight!! brrrrrrrrrr!
Yeah, I'm there with ya! It's way too cold in Texas today. My males love cold weather, and since they're not out long I don't worry about them. But if the temps fall into the 30's I drag out Ginger's sweater. She always hates it the first time, but if I don't put it on her, I have to drag her outside to potty. I really think she realizes it keeps her warm, and accepts it after the first day.

BBBRRRRRRRR Even though I have lived up here in the MOUNTAINS for years now, it IS still California and after visiting Chicago?? Well, this is just not the same kind of COLD.
Last week we got a suprise snow storm (the first of its kind in 30yrs) and since then the weather is so darn fffrrreeezzzing...Roxy and Trooper both HATE their coats and try to rub,and pull them off. They have been quite the 'couch potatos' lately because I will only let them stay out for a few minutes at a time. It hasn't gotten much above 30 even during the day!
I don't know how you midwesterners do it! Aren't we the WHINERS though?

We live in Sacramento and it's been SO cold here as a storm is hitting the Sierra. I need to get Luka a jacket too- but he is a puppy and growing fast. In the morning, when we go out to "use the bathroom", hr runs to the lawn, runs to the dumpster so I can throw it away and then runs back to the apt. His little legs are so funny! LOL

I went to Petsmart last night because I saw the cutest letterman jacket that I wanted to buy for Giguere. The large was too small and they don't make it in an extra large. I was sooo disappointed. It was so perfect for a boxer. They even had a picture of it being modeled by a boxer online. I bought a suede coat for Kianna (has to be dry cleaned - how impractical is that?!) that is so 'her' but now I'm stumped about what to get him. The search continues.

Yup, as the name indicates, I'm from Canada and have a lifetime of experiencing cold winters. "Jinx", being a typical boxer, never grows much of a winter coat (OK, none), so I got her a thin doggie blanket (not unlike a horse blanket) for when the temp starts to drop to below the freezing mark, and a nylon shelled, thinsulate-lined coat for the really cold stuff that usually arrives after Christmas. She generally does just fine without any coat until we hit about 0 to -5C (I guess that's about 23F). Below -5C (23F) she wears the thinner coat which is also a windbreaker, and once the thermostat drops below -20C (-4F) she wears the "parka". She does very well when bundled up and sometimes she even wears boots (-35C and below). No, I'm not exaggerating, we generally see at least a couple of weeks in the winter of -35 to -40. (Just to let you know, -40C = -40F.) "Jinx" loves her coats and plays/jumps/bounces/wiggles, etc. with no problems, even in the boots. Maybe I'll take a photo of her decked out in her winter duds and post it on this site!
