Okay, you people in cold states will think I'm a big wimp. We live in So. California by the beach and although we don't experience cold anywhere close to what you'all do, it can get down to about freezing. Should I get my babies a sweater for our walks? It was downright chilly last night and I felt bad for them, although they seemed not to mind. How cold is too cold for a boxer?

Brrr from Ohio !!

How I wish I were in California right about now !!:) It's 39* here right now and spitting rain-maybe snow.YUCK!!!
My vet always told me that if I was cold-the dogs probably were too.Of course I'm a wuss and hate to be cold. In the summer,I have 3 blankets on the bed-and it's a very warm waterbed:) I know Pooh gets cold when she goes out-she hightails it back to the door. I'm making them some fleece jackets for Xmas-picked up a pattern at Walmart-really easy.

It's going to be 30 here tonight!! brrrrrrrrrr! I would agree that if you are cold, they probably are too but with as much running and jumping around as they do, they warm up pretty fast. Ping Loves the cold - its like a energy burst for him [like he doesnt have enough already!] we get out there and he runs around so fast and does his kangaroo jumps. I think they will let you know if its too cold. Like when its raining.. I KNOW Ping doesn't like it.. he does his business as quick as he can and runs back upstairs. With the cold and snow, he doesnt want to go back inside so I know he is okay temperature wise. :D

OO you guys are lucky!!! It was a wopping 19 degrees when the pups and I took our morning walk. UG!!! We weren't expected to get temps above freezing today. I started putting Evie's hoodie on here once the temp was round 40 degrees.

I'd love to be in Cali right now! :D

I also live in Orange County and it was in the 40's when I walked them this morning--but, of course, they were panting within a few minutes so I doubt they were cold. I did put a microfleece jacket on Skye the other night and he was too hot in a couple of minutes and panting. They run around so much more when it's cold that I think the warm up quickly.

Now I feel bad. I used to live in FL and after 12 years I am finally acclimated to the cold winters in the Carolinas. Evening/Morning temps are around 30 to 40 degrees. I figure for the quick 5 min. at 5:30 AM, to their business, they don't need their sweaters.

My cocker Alex had to get shaved down last month so I know he's been pretty cold. The naked baby just isn't used to being furless. Poor baby...I just had to get to get him a sweater.

IT IS FREEEEEZZZZZIIINNNGGGGGGGG here in "sunny California"

1CRAZYBXRLVR- i was thinking the exact same thing. I live inland and it was in the 20's last nite, w/ LOTS of wind. same tonite, w/out the wind tho. my poor babies don't want to get out from under my down comforter. (talk about spoiled  ) anywho, from one Californian to another, i would definately invest in some sort of sweater or jacket for the pups. Esp. those Southern Californian Boxers... they definately are not used to cold! i believe there have been some good threads on jackets/sweaters.. i will definately be re-reading those tonite!

Without her coat Asia runs around but sulks when she has her coat on. Is it just a matter of making her get used to it. This is my boyfriends theory.
She will keep herself warm. Dogs have been doing it for Cenutries. (My fathers voice in me)

Any thoughts?
We stay outside quite awhile and she looks cold without the coat and miserable with it.
God I wish she could talk.

I tend to agree with your dad to be honest. Bubba isn't thrilled when initially going out if it's cold, but once he starts walking he's absolutely fine. And it's not like he's out walking for more than 20-30 minutes at a time.

I agree - it is freezing in Southern California! You think I would be all warm and cozy with the 40 and 50 degree weather at the beach, considering I grew up in Ohio, but nope, I had the fireplace going, along with all the heater, and 3 blankets on the bed, only because the doggy doors lets in a draft. Clover has 3 sweaters/coats...of course my excuse was she would need them when we decide to go up to Big Bear or Mammoth! Clover is spoiled as well...she has her own special blanket on her bed, along with sleeping in my roommates bed with a down comforter, or snuggled between me and bf!
