I have a 41/2 month boxer i cant touch. when I do she pees. Could this be a problem or will she out grow it. I think she gets excited but not sure. I feel bad shes so luvable.

It is probably what is known as submissive peeing. That is in part an excitement problem, but also the puppy showing her submissiveness to you.

Things that can help are delaying petting her until she is calm, and avoiding standing or leaning over her when you pet her. The latter is very easy for us humans to do, since we're much taller than the dog - but in dog terms is something of a dominant gesture. You may find that things go better if you somewhat get down on her level, or perhaps sit on a chair and call her over for petting, rather than doing it from a standing position. Likewise, I'd suggest petting her chest and sides, and not her head at the beginning, and also avoid enclosing her in your arms (same reasons - they're somewhat dominant gestures)

Most likely she'll outgrow this - the vast majority of pups do. But in the meantime, I would suggest that you don't pet immediately or when she's excited, and avoid getting her excited by the petting (i.e. pet very calmly), and also try the sorts of petting gestures that are quite natural to humans, but do have dominant overtones to dogs.

I certainly agree with the advice. One of our girls, Maxine, was 75 pounds of very trim and powerful muscle with an impressive stance. Intimidating presence to those who didn't know her. Yet, to surprise of many she did the same. She got better with age, but never fully out grew it. We managed it with calm introductions, .... and by always having paper towels nearby.

BTW, this occurred with people she could tell we welcomed. Her attitude toward unwelcome or surprise visitors was somewhat different. Not attacking, but certainly on guard and always positioning herself between us and whoever.

My Basset used to do this when he was young. I found it really helped to wait until he was calm (hard to tell in a Basset since he was pretty calm by nature) to pet him and to not loom over him when I pet him. I often asked people who came to the house to sit in a chair or on the couch and pet him from there. He was much more comfortable with that. He did outgrow it by around 2. Good luck!

My first girl did this, mainly with men but occasionally women. We had to take the rug out of the entry way for that reason. We usually had people ignore her when they came in so she wouldn't get so excited, or greet her outside. She did get better, but never totally outgrew it. :)
