When did you stop crating?

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!

Baylee is 8 years old and is still crated and will always be crated when we leave the house! (Brandy is crated with her, when Brit was alive she was crated with Baylee) Now, all of my dogs have always slept in bed with us but we do close our bedroom door and lock Brandy in because she likes to chew up the kids toys. On the other hand Baylee doesn't chew and the only thing she gets into is the garbage if it is out of the can (like when it doesn't get taken out) so we just make sure she can't get to it and she makes her self all comfy in the kids beds.

SO, I have and will never leave my girls in the house uncrated they get into too much mischief and I like my house the way it is.

The only time they are crated when we are home is when guests are arriving. Ava is still having occasional problems with jumping on people. Indy gets excited, but sort of hops around a bit but manages to control himself.

When left alone in the house for more than a few minutes, they are crated.

Neither has ever been crated at night except when we are travelling. Just to be safe, they share a crate in the room when we stop for the night.

When we travel, we always fold up both crates, and bring them with us. It is a familiar "den" for them in unfamiliar surroundings.

Both travel very well, and don't mind spending a night in the crate while we are on the road.

So I'm seeing some differing solutions to different situations, which is to be expected. Lael doesn't sleep with me, and because she is crated at night, I crate her less during the day. During the day, unless I have to leave, I never crate her (although lots of times she goes in there on her own; she loves it).

Her "area" in the house is very limited at this point (there is some very nice antique furiture that... well, I just don't trust that bad-tasting spray stuff enough)

Well, I'll just see how it goes next year. Hopefully she will be trusted in the kitchen.

:)

Thanks for sharing!
