When cystitis is not cystitis......

Hi
Just after we got our little puppy she took cystitis and had to go onto antibiotics. Our vet mentioned that because she was wetting her bedding when sleeping it might not actually be cystitis but could be something else. However all was well when she came off the antibiotics for about a week.

In the space of 3 days [over the hols of course!] she fell asleep on the bed and had an accident, fell asleep on my knee on Christmas Day and wet herself [and me!!!!] wet her bed on Boxing Day Evening and herself all soaked. I had taken her to the ER Vet on Boxing Day Eve and been given enough antibiotics to cover us until our own vet opened again today.

Just back from the vets where I was told the symptoms were more of incontinence and not cystitis. To humour me more than anything else I suspect they gave us a months suppy of antibiotics. If she is still having "accidents" when she comes off them this time, she has to have a special x-ray and if it reveals that the tube leading into the urethra is not in the right place [apparently it can be leading into the birth channel instead] she will need a very big/very expensive operation - talking 4-figures here.

Has anyone ever heard of this condition/had experience/had good results from surgery?

I would be grateful for any and all advice as it just seems too awful to think about such a tiny baby having to go through such a big operation when she is approx 5 months old. She is only 3 1/2 mths old now. To be honest I feel quite down about it.
