What's the most expensive thing your boxer has eaten/distroyed?

Ok so today was a very large replacement day and a rough day in the $$ area, as my Oscar chewed up my dental retainers. My dentist bill was almost $500 today as I had to have impressions done of my teeth and the cost of each retainer, a whopping $180 a piece (ouch). I was not pleased and neither was the dentist as I was originally just coming in for a cleaning that turned out into a whole work over. And last week he ate the head phones to my mp3 player (not cheap) and one time he ate a $450 pay check and all I had left was the check # at the top (boss also not pleased). I have never in my life had to use the excuse "my dog ate it" but this week had just been crazy. Not to mention he has been chewing up 1 roll of toliet paper a day. I went to the pet store and bought him (and Champ :) ) lots of new toys so I hope this keeps him at bay. You'd think for a almost 3 year old boy (b-day in April) he would be out of this phase. I guess he is just feeling rebelious. I hope he knows some good ways to make some money back for me, but I guess I'll just have to take the cute I'm sorry mommy face instead.

It's been months ago, (knock on wood)but the remote to my new HiDef DVR (cannot be replaced without buying a new $600 system). Three cell phones that were not covered under insurance. Had to pay Cingular's retail price for those. I guess we've all learned not to leave anything down that he can reach.

Well, not really expensive money wise, but when I graduated from college, the school issued "tickets" for guests, to the graduation ceremonies (I got 3 tickets). I placed the tickets in the center of my large dining room table, under a heavy flower vase, so they wouldn't get lost. (I thought they were safe there???)

My mom flew in from out of town to see me walk across the stage.... we had been outside painting... and soon found out the tickets were GONE. OH MY GOSH!!! Imagine me, going to the school, a GRADUATING STUDENT, saying "my dog ate my tickets". The laughed and didn't believe me, until my mom got on the phone crying, saying she had flown 1200 miles to see me walk.

Long story short, I got another set of tickets (thank goodness), and later found the 'original' set in the yard in a turd. (And yes I actively looked for them.) I can laugh about it now, but it was a VERY serious matter at the time.

I'll never forget it......

Wow, I guess I've been pretty lucky with Beau. Bailey and my former foster, Roscoe, were the ones I had to watch out for. The only thing Beau really destroyed was a VCR remote that was only $10 to replace. On the other hand...

Bailey has destroyed:
$200 pair of prescription eyeglasses...twice
4-5 pairs of shoes
countless pairs of panties (I'm not such a big fan of the crotchless kind)
cell phone (he peed in the floor and I accidentally knocked my phone off the table and into the pee...try explaining that one to the cell phone company)

Roscoe destroyed these in less than 3 weeks:
2 pairs of shoes
1 pair of boots
1 pillow sham my mother hand-sewed
1 comforter
4 cabinet knobs
program to a wedding I was in that I was keeping for a scrapbook
1 wicker trash can
1 plastic trash can
1 $50 space heater (the really nice oscillating, self-monitoring kind)
paperwork
rug liner
remote control car

Whew, I think that's it. I will NEVER complain about Beau again

I guess we are pretty lucky too, (or just overly diligent) ;) as Killian has only ever destroyed his own toys, but I guess that does get expensive having to buy new ones. :) Our last boxer Samson though, liked to eat the landscaping when out in the yard, so that was not cheap, he killed two baby trees, one big lilac bush, and other things, and oh yeah, he did get hold of a phone when we were outside cooking burgers on the grill. It started ringing and he grabbed it and took off with it. Dh fixed it though, it just had a few dents.. :)

Blizzy ate my diamond engagement ring..and passed if before I realized she ate it!! Lucky for me, (going to be a bit graffic now.) the diamond ring was at the top of the poo and the sun hitting the diamond caused a 'glare' type look, so I went to look thinking she ate tin foil or something...ewwww my ring...cleaned up really nice :) She did that as a rebellious pup. Once she got a bit older she never bothered destoying anything. Her big things to eat were paper products..books, paper towels, paper plates, toilet paper, feminine products..ewww..

lol The most expensine thing Sam destroyed was the coffee table smashicon. He chewed and chewed on that thing until I (evilicon) came out and poured tabasco sauce on it. He never touched it again but the table was over $1,000!

Foreman is not a real chewer I have been lucky he did the stuffed cat masacre where he threw 30 cats around the house covered in slobber but not chewed (they are put away now next time they might not be so lucky)
He did rip up my bedroom curtains once to shreds and he does rip up the underpadding in front of the door in the basement where the cat pooh and food is he can't fit through the cat door which is there because of him so when we are out he rips the underpadding out his way of showing us he is not impressed with being cut off, he has ate a few bath luafas but that is it .

I guess in lucky

Wow!! I guess im lucky, or should i say maybe its early.. Sierra hasnt really chewed anything expensive, or really anything compaired to what yall have explained.. She has chewed my daughters sandles..( good training for the kids, keep it picked up or the dog will chew it it works great..lol) And she did get ahold of my hubbys boxer briefs and turned them into boxer thongs.. I really never knew he liked thongs..lol.. i still laugh over that one.. But other then them thats it and that was a few months ago.. I also have alot, and i mean alot of chew toys for her and whenever i see her acting or what i think acting like she wants to chew something shes not suppost too i use the clear my throat thing, the lil aaahhhmmmmm and she puts her head down with them puppy eyes and stops.. Works every time.. So im either lucky or have not gotten to that expensive chew stage yet.. Sierra is 4 months old today..

Happy posting everyone!!!

Great thread by the way!!!

sammy has tazmanian-deviled a few things... nothing of too much value. just tp rolls, tissue boxes, and a purse or two. i keep it light-hearted by getting down on the floor and taking an "artsy" pic of each mishap. i'm working on framing and hanging her "art" like any proud mom would!
