What's a Kong?

I know this must seem like a very elementary question...but could someone tell me what a KONG is? Ive seen it in the pet stores, but Im thinking there is more to what I saw. Thank you in advance everyone! :)

LOL! They do look very plain and like they wouldn't be much fun, don't they? That's what I thought at first, too. Then I finally broke down and bought Bindi one. She doesn't play with it a lot when it's empty, but fill it up with something, and it will keep her busy for hours and hours, even if it is just her regular kibble!

Kongs are GREAT - especially if you stuff them with something then stand it up and freeze it, it takes hours for them to get everything out when they start working at it. My dog doesn't play with it much, just likes it as a treat dispensing game, but it is still a terrific invention. :)

Stuffing a kong with peanut butter and letting my girl go at it was the best tip I've ever gotten from this website. It's amusing for us to watch her and she goes at it for a long time. We give it to her outside when we're washing our cars or doing yard work. Keeps them occupied!
