I would like to get an idea of what people are feeding their boxers. We went from Eukanuba (didn't like) to Fromms gold, to Eaglepack holistic which is making her excrete way too much. Different vets tell us to use a different brand or that the others are no good for our girl. Help!!!

We used NutroMax puppy with ours for the first 12-14 months and switched her to a brand my brother in-laws aunt carrys at her feed store. All I know is she ate good up to this point and when we switched her she will not eat the new food. We mixed 1/2 and 1/2 and worked from there. It looks as though we will be switching back to Nutro. I took her to training classes while on Nutro and the trainer said she looked great.

Unfortunately most vets don't really know mch about nutrition so that isn't the best place to start most of the time. They arent' taught about it in vet school. The only vets who really know much about nutrition are those who studied it on their own for their own knowledge.
Do a search in the forum for Whole Dog Journal list of top 10 foods. That is a good place to start. You can find out which foods are avilable in your area and go from there. I have used Canidae and Chicken Soup. They have done well on both. I switched to Chicken Soup just for variety. You may have to try 2-3 or so different foods to find which works best for your particular dog but most any from the WDJ list will do well for your dog. Good luck!

I highly recommened Natural Balance Ultra Premium. My dog has done great on it and I love the ingredients. I also am going to put her on a rotating food. I think I have it narrowed down to NB which she is on now, to Natural Blend by Royal Canin, and either Chicken Wellness, or Chick Soup. Last two I just can't decided between.

We also like the Natural Balance brand. We switched Chula about 5 weeks ago and she seems to really like it. Her coat had been kind of dull and dry and Natural Balance seemed to help a lot. They also make a semi-moist food that comes in a roll. We use it as a treat a few times a week and mix it with her dry food. It comes in several blends for dogs with allergies and it's not tested on lab animals which was a big plus.

Good luck with what ever you choose!

We switched to Natural Balance Premium Kibble around thanksgiving, and the we noticed improvement within a couple of weeks. The dogs were excreting less; all gained weight; less dry food had to be fed to maintain weight; soft shiny coats all around. We were very impressed with the change in our dogs, so we switched our aged cat (11 or 12) to it, and he lost weight (sorely needed to!), had more energy, and a fabulous coat! I HIGHLY recommend natural balance, and best of all you can get it at PetCo and PetSmart!

Thanks everyone, I think I have narrowed it down to either Canidae, Natural balance ultra or the Wellnes super5 mix lamb. Now I just have to find the one sold in Toronto Canada.
