Well, we had just moved to Hawaii and the next day we went looking at Boxers. My Sheltie, Corgan, was in quarantine for a month so Loke came home to just us people. We didnt' pick her up for a week because we didn't have a house yet! :p Well, now it's the first night, she is asleep with us on the floor ( no furniture yet). I am a stay at home mom, so she had company all day. She was crate trained from day one, or at least confined to it. She still liked to potty in there. Corgan was never like Loke was! He was a whiner the first night and when I would leave for work!! But Loke was different, I didn't have to work with her. She did potty on the floor alot for the first couple weeks. By the time a month rolled around I was off to pick up Corgan and they met for the first time. Loke was all happy to see him, though Corgan was wondering where he was and why was there this big puppy here with MY MOMMY!! :) I must say they do get along great 3 years later! Loke was a bigger handful than Corgan was, or maybe it was because I had a 5 month baby too! She is great now and I wouldn't trade it for all the world. Those days of frustration are but a faded memory. I can remember being so frustrated that I wanted to throw her out! It's amazing how you forget that now. I guess it's like how women forget how painful labor is when they get pregnant again!

First day, first week, first month. They are all the same. Every time your boxer looks up at you with those incredibly sweet and soulful eyes, he will melt your heart.

Seriously, the whole first month is a good deal of work, but you are rewarded every day as you watch them play, sleep, eat, and grow. Just fascinating.

I have Guiness, fawn male boxer, 3 mos. old, for a little over a month now. He was for a few days sleeping from 1 or 2 AM until 6:00 or 6:30 which wasn't bad. However, the last few nights after being walked at around 2AM, he has been waking again at 4 AM to potty and then will only go back to sleep until 6:30. I feel like a walking zomby from my sleep being so disturbed all night although I do have others in the house who walk him. My question is - if I am crating him, will it disrupt his crate training during the day when I am not home if I allow him to sleep in my bed at night? I really could use a good night's sleep but he has finally gotten used to sleeping in his crate. Has anyone done this?

With Abby the first day was a little scary for everyone... she wouldn't eat and she was throwing up. After taking her to the vet and finding out she had worms, everything was fine on the food front. Abby's first week was VERY trying. My hubby was working third shift, so I was left with this SUPER-WHINEY puppy all night long! I got about 4 hours sleep in 3 days and at one point I told Greg we might have to get rid of her for her own safety. She was driving me crazy...LOL! After that first week though, she automatically turned from demondog to angel. At 7 weeks old she was going to the door when she needed to go out to potty, she was sleeping all night, and she was just all-around perfect. We have had Abby a month, and besides her biting and vomiting habits... we have had no trouble with her. :)

Baylee just came home Thursday. So far she has been pretty good. She has never gone #2 in the house... which is REALLY GOOD. She's pees in the floor right often. At night she wakes up once to go out, but other than that she sleeps all night... and she has NEVER WHINED... only once when I put her in the crate while I went out for a bit. But that could be because she has Abby and they sleep together at the foot of our bed.

All in all they are angels angelicon ... and I love to see them kidney bean!

We are wishing to adopt soon and we trying to learn as much as possible so we can "prepare" if there is such a thing. We would like to hear about adoption stories too. The puppy stories are great and we would still like to hear those as well.
Always the best,
Jon:D
