What tricks do your boxers know?

Just curious as to how many and what kind of tricks evryone's boxers know. Dutch only does a few but his cutest trick is when I have him sit and say "gimme kiss", and without licking he'll put his nose up to the palm of my hand and give it a human like peck it's soooo cute if I do say so myself.

When Digby wants something, he will stare intensely at you. I will say "want?" and he tilts his head. I then say "show me". If he wants a treat he will lead me to the cabinet I keep them in and stares like a pointer at the cabnet. If he wants to go out he leads me to the door and stares at the door. If he wants to play with a particular toy, he leads me to it and ditto, he stares at it. At dinner time he leads me to the door with his food, stares and usually whines a little. He has now begun walking to the car if he wants to go for a ride. Who says dogs and conceptualize?

one of the best things I taught mattie was. when the dogs are outside and I want to come in samson does not want to come in and plays catch me if you can. well I taught mattie to round him up. I say go get samson and she runs out in the backyard makes a playful stance and runs around a bush where samson follows her and then she runs into the patio where he follows. if he stops short she will go back out and do it again till he follows. it is the best trick that I taught her and really works. dh was shocked when I showed him.

Kneel Before Zod

My Husband is a big Superman fan/ The villain in one of the movies was named General Zod. I taught our two boxers to "kneel" with their front paws extended like they are laying down, but their butts up in the air when we say "Kneel before Zod!" and stand with our hands on our hips. Hysterical!

They are great at all the basics (sit, down, stay, come, catch, drop it, shake, big hugs, hi-5 & wave), but the most useful thing we ever learned was "Go to bed". When we say "Go to bed" they run and jump on their bed (or a spot on the carpet, whichever is closer) and lay down & stay until we relapse them. It's awesome for when people come over because there is usually so much commotion at the door with them wiggling everywhere. With "Got to bed" we can get people in the door and settled before they greet the boys. They've gotten so good at it that OCCASIONALLY, when the doorbell rings, they will just go immediately to their bed without being told!

Sooo proud!

Bella knows the normal tricks, "sit, stay, lay down, shake". She can also do a "high 5". Her new trick is "Play dead".

I will tell her to "wait" when I get her food and she does. She knows, "Get in the car". "Get in your kennel" "Want a treat? "Kong" Oh she loves Kong!!!

And the best is "Where's your daddy!" or just "Daddy" I usually come home before Steven from work..and when I hear his car pull up..i'll say "Where's your daddy" No matter what Bella is doing she will stop, go running up to the door, sit and wait until he comes in... Once I felt so bad cause I was only joking and Bella sat there for 30 mintures until Steven came home.

Also the other day I took Bella out to meet her dog friends by the field, and my friend Melanie's boyfriend came around the corner. Well all of a sudden Melanie says to her boston terrier, "Looks there is Daddy." Bella's ears jump up and off she goes darting towards her boyfriend. It was so funny. She finally got to him and stopped. You could tell she was thinking " hey..you arent my daddy!

Bella can also "speak" She doesnt like this one though. Boxers are really quiet dogs. And of course "kisses"

Ring, Ring....

People are always so amazed when Dexter rings his bell when he wants to go outside we get the "Did he just nudge that bell with his nose because he wanted out?? WOW how long did it take him to learn that??" When we answer with 4 days when he was 9 weeks old they are in Awww!

He can also bring you his leash when you say "get your leash", then the basics...sit, stay, lay down, rollover, play dead, catch, stand up, turn around, shake/Hi-5, Speak, and with the exception of "get your leash" he knows all his commands by sign language as well, which I think has been our biggest accomplishment together!

The biggest trick BOTH of our dogs have learned to do is con food from their "daddy!" (He is such a softie) They sit right next to him and cock their heads, and look so cute, he usually gives them a bite of something!
I'm the stingy one, because I know they don't need it.

I want to teach Bella Roll over and havent had any luck. Any pointers?

Cin knows basics- sit down stay come paw kisses. We spent about 4 months learning roll over shes finally gotten to the point where she doesnt need a treat to do it, and she does it most times when I tel her to roll. But she'll only down if I put her in a down first, she wont do it from a stand. Sometimes if she gets lazy, she wont roll all the way, shell just flop to one side .
