I always look in the classified ads, pet section, of course. Lo and behold I see the following ad: "Boxer waiting for you" $49.95!!!! Male Brindle, 3 years old, we just don't have the time for him. I am soooooo ****** off right now. Well of course I had to call DH and tell him, he says go get him! I have my boy Harley who is laid back and easy going, but then I get my little rescue girl in November!! I am dying to call them and go meet the boxer boy!
OK fellow boxer lovers, am I crazy or what??

I say go get him, even if you cant keep him, you can find a better home than someone with an advertisement like that....makes you wonder about people

$49.95, what is he a freeking Walmart rollback? Why do people get animals if they aren't willing to make the commitment? Then they just toss them out like trash. It makes me so angry. Kudos to your hubby for supporting you and to you for trying to rescue this baby.

Rescue him if you have the time for three. Do not let the price attract you. My father always said there is nothing free about a free dog. After a summer of multiple pet vet bills I completely understand that phrase.

Gah! I totally agree. People like that anger me. That's actually how we got our Boze...He was in the paper "free to a good home" and we knew we had to go save him. We called at 9 pm at night and had him home with us by 10. He's been the biggest blessing in our life, and we feel like we've done something good for him in return as we've found out little by little what his old life was like.
If you can do it, go for it. That kiddo obviously is in need of some TLC.
Best of luck and keep us posted!

Go get him. Make sure hubby goes with you. Keep us posted. Being in Mississippi, I am especially interested in what is going here. Was this in the Clarion Ledger?

I too am a big time classified ad (pet section) browser. I have never seen a $49.95 price though. Where would they come up with that price?
I'd go check him out. :)

After thinking a little more, I guess an add like this is better than dropping off at a shelter or worse. But the "bargain price" could attract someone who has no business owning a boxer.

thats too funny

I say go get him and you've got some time to help find him a better home than what the ad will probably attract, but then again there may be someone else like you who saw it and thought the same thing. At the very least you could call and act interested to see if they ask any "responsible" questions.

Keep us posted.
