Night before last, I heard Samantha barking and barking, so I went out to see what all the excitement was about. I saw her doing the play bow, and then jumping back! I cautiously got closer and saw her playing with a snake!

Fortunately, it was a garter snake which isn't poisonous, so I kept on watching until the snake decided to come towards me! I quickly ran to the back porch, but kept watching. Then, Pepper got into the act, so it was two against one. They chased that snake (and trampled my garden) for about 30 minutes! It was funny to watch, but I hoped they didn't harm the snake. I don't like snakes, but they are supposed to eat stuff that you don't want to have--small rodents, bugs, etc.

They finally came in, and I fixed the dog door so they couldn't get out for a while. I'll be that snake was thinking "whew", what the h*** was that!!

Do you have any wildlife/boxer stories to tell??

Bailey is big into squirlls like most dogs!! She is also into butterflys!! The one day she just followed one around for like twenty minutes jumping up at it and trying to lick it!! I wish I had had a video camera it was hilarious!!

Well, definitely squirrels. Also, we have rabbits on our nature trail, snakes at the lake (I don't let them near the snakes; we leave if they are about at the lake - they are poisonous), and we have a family of foxes on the trail, which the girls smell and have seen (the baby) but I have not let them interact with them. There are also possum, moles, gophers, and a family of woodchucks which they are absolutely DYING to get to! :)

And Susie is also a butterfly chaser! It is my very favorite thing that she does. I well up with tears when she jumps and chases butterflies, it is so innocent and pure! It exemplifies why I love dogs so very, very much. :)

So far Luke's wildlife has been limited to bugs. My favorite is in the evening when the gnats come out.. they circle his head and he tries to snatch them outta the air. I just love the frozen stance, only his eyes moving, then the quick snapping and the *wuhp wuhp* sound his lips make.

I can't wait until the hummingbirds come! I know he can't catch one, but I wanna see him try!

Maggie has a squirrel who baits her every day, running across the top of the fence and barking down at her. She is also into butterflies and lightening bugs at night.

Barney, my terrier, is the fierce hunter of june bugs, though. I cringe everytime I hear that crunching sound coming from his mouth. UGH.

My Boxers dont really play with any wildlife, however one of my friends has a boxer and his do plays with racoons she has had a few of them treed and las night we found part of a tail. She is also a very good mouser, pour dog just trying to play with the mouse forget how much strenth she has and will box the mouse and it is no longer a fun play toy.

Well, I don't have a lot of "wildlife" near my house, but I used to take Louie to a petting zoo quite often, and he likes the pigs. Pigs are his buddies. He likes to lick their snouts. Gross.. but the pigs didn't seem to mind, and Louie thought they were yummy.

Tyson always tries to catch birds and has on 2 occasions. I love to watch him play with those really hard beetles. He lays on the ground and lets them crawl on his nose. Shakes them off, then SPLAT! That big paw gets them every time.
