What kind of fencing do you have?

Since we live on a river and live in the city I chose a black split wood rail fence with chain link attatched. It is a four feet high, sixty feet deep and ninty feet wide. He doesn't stray even if it is left open by the kids. I wanted to keep it as natural as I could but still keep the occassional roaming dogs out. There is a picture of it in my photo gallary and avatar with Baxter in front of it in case you can't figure out exactly what I mean or haven't ever seen one!!!

6 ft tall privacy fencing here!

We installed 6ft tall privacy fencing. We absolutely love the privacy and the safety it affords our boxers and our poodle. I wouldn't have it any other way. Cindy W.

We have a chain link fence, but we need to get a privacy fence because my boxer samson can get out of the fence by going under, and the chain link bends at the bottom when he pushes on it. The privacy fence would be better for us, cause it won't bend.

You can use stakes that are sort of like oversized tent pegs to secure your chain link fence to the ground between the posts. You could even set them in concrete if your dogs are persistant.

I have 6 ft cedar, except along the alley. There I have 6 ft chain link with twisted barbs along the top. Rowdy has never tried to climb it and I would think that he would only try it once. I do have 1 gate without the barbs and a stray dog climbed into my yard once before I had my beagle spayed. Fortunately, I caught him and took Mattie to be spayed the next day.

We currently have a 4' chain link fence. We are planning on replacing it with a 6' privacy fence this spring.

Moe, my boxer/pit bull mix, is able to jump over the fence so needless to say they are never out there alone. Luckily, the two times he jumped it he walked right to the gate to be let back in. I don't think he liked being separated from us.

I'm sure Olive could jump over it too since she is by far a better jumper than Moe. I don't think she has ever thought is trying. Thank goodness!

One side of our yard is 4' chain link, the other side is 8' privacy fence, and the back side is a 5 rail wooden fence(4' high).

Oops, I accidently clicked on other but I have a 5 foot chain link fence. I decided to get thetaller one in case either one of them decided they want to try & jump it which they haven't yet, knock on wood . I also put a padlock through the gate handle because I'm terrified someone will try to steal them or a kid will open the gate as they're walking by. That & my grandparents dogs know how to open the gates!!!

6' chain link that attaches to the back of our house and gives them a 50' x 100' ......"play pen".
It has two gates on opposite sides, that can be padlocked to keep unwanted guest out.
They love to go out and romp, run and play and they can also see whats going on outside the "play pen" since it is chain link. :D

We just installed a 4' picket fence in our front and side yards. We bought a house with quite a lot of property, and cost was a factor. My uncle lives in the UP of Michigan and had several trees on his land that he milled and cut into pickets for us, and we strategically made the best use of the yard and house so that we could fence as much as possible on our budget. Our dogs are not allowed out unsupervised (both of them could physically jump the fence, if the thought to do so ever occurred to them) and we have been just thrilled with the amount of playing they have been able to do. We also installed the homemade fence as a family project, and it was so special! We definately couldn't have a notorious jumper here, though! Gotta get some pics of the new place up in my gallery!

Here in the California suburbs, we have small lots, and everyone is fenced off from their neighbor, at least in the back yard. We have a six foot redwood fence and you share half the cost of replacement with your neighbor because the fence is on the property line. The type of fence you get is dictated by what everyone else has got.
