Hiya everyone!
We adopted our 'baby' 3mos ago. We fell totally in love with her and all of her strange noises!
We love her snoring, slobbery kisses and kidney beaning......however, can someone PLEASE tell me what to do about her GAS??? :)
Is there a "BEANO" for dogs? :) Even "Trooper" (her Tibetan Terrier big brother) is looking for an answer!
Thanks,
Roxy's Mom

What type of food is she on?
Natural yogart can help with gas, but the underlying problem is probably in her regular food.

It is a joy of a boxer. They all do it regardless. What food they are on will have some effect. It is a trait you have to learn to live with. i have heard of people giving their boxers beano. i have never given mine though. I have just learned to laugh at it and tell them nice one. What is even better is when it is so bad that they get up from where they are laying and move, and leave you there to smell it.

Thanks for advice!

Just wanted to thank you all for the advice and I WILL try the yougart!
We LOVE her even with all of her noises!
My vet also suggested lifting her foodbowl to help with her getting too much air?

HA HA HA !

Air in a dog's tummy, which he would get from gulping food, is NOT gas. It rids itself from the body by belching. My dogs belch as well.

Gas is related to digestion and good and bad flora in the intestines. One thing to remember is that we have lots of intestine in us but dogs have very little or "short" intestines. Thus enzymes are more plentiful in the dog in order to digest food more quickly and thoroughly, thus causing more gas than what we humans are accustomed to.

Tell your "vet" that he/she needs to go back to basic biology and physiology and study real hard again because he/she obviously doesn't know a dog's ass from his nostril !

Our Lucy would gas all the time, it would make people leave the room. I did some research and people on this site said to change her food. Well I did and she is much better. She is eating ROyal Caine now and we don't have the problem as much at all. She has had move gas this week then useual. But I think that might be from her not feeling good after being spayed. I does get a little better. Tami

Our babies GAS  problems were much worse when we were feeding them a dog "feed" that had high corn content. A month ago we switched them to Canidae and the everyday gas problems have disappeared. However Zoe has been giving us teething gas for the past 2 months, but as she nears 6 months it is slowing down.

Years ago I placed an older puppy with some folks. They called a few weeks later saying the gas was just awful. The only change that had been made was switching from regular Milkbones to the Liver Milkbones. The Liver bones are dyed with red dye. Back to regular and the gas went away.

Usually bad gas is diet related. Nothing with dye is a good start. Also, many canned foods will really set our guys off. I would switch to a good premium food and stay away from grocery store foods.

A Good Dog Food

I have been using WELLNESS puppy chow for our 8 week old female and she is eating very well and never has gas. This chow has real meat, fruits and vegs plus Omega 3,6,9 for her coat etc. It smells like fish but is an excellent quality food.
