what is the proper age for hip testing

i am realitively new at breading although i have had boxers all my life. i have heard alot about hip testing and everyone has a different story. i want to do what is right for my pets as well as what is responcible as a breeder. help!!!

The testing can actually be done at any age, but for the dogs to be certified, they need to be at least 2 years old.

Also, please look back in previous posts regarding genetic testing. Its not only hips you need to test for. Use the SEARCH function. You will find lots of URL's (links) to web pages for further information on genetic testing.

Hips can be tested as early as 12 months for preliminary purposes (good idea for comparing the 24 month tests). They need to be re-tested at 24 months. OFA certification is recommended for breeding and this can not be done until 24 months.

Like Sabrina said, there is much more testing that needs to be done along w/ hips.:)
