What is the mix?

Emmitt is now 8 months old and we still can't figure out what he is mixed with. Both his parents were fawn boxer that LOOKED pure bred. Emmitt has all the boxer qualities... the body, the face the personality, alllll the characteristics of a boxer except for his colours. He is mostly black with fawn legs and white chest and paws. I have been trying to figure out what the mix is and just have no clue. I have only seen one other dog that looked like him and it was on this site. But they don't know the mix either. I think he is only a 1/4 or an 1/8 something else.... Anyways I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can research it to find out. A website of mixes or something?

A picture would be helpful . Some all black dogs, staffordshire bull terriers, rottweiler, german shepherd, border collie, pointers, newfoundlands, dobermans, coon hound, gordon setter, and of coure black lab.

I would guess either the shepherd, pit bull, or black lab since they are more commonly found breeds.... but its hard to tell without a picture

If Emmitt is essentially black with tan legs (plus the white markings) then you can probably narrow down your list of 'suspects' to breeds with the black/tan colour pattern. So no need to be thinking of labs, etc - that mix could produce a black dog, but not a black/tan pattern dog The Doberman and Rottweiler spring to mind, but it may also be possible that a tri-colour breed such as the Bernese Mountain Dog is responsible (though personally I'd guess that the white markings are more likely to have come from the boxer mother).

Even with a photo though, a guess at his parentage could still only be a guess. It's quite common for mixed breed puppies to look far more like one parent than the other, or indeed not to look much like either.

There are also tri-colored pit bulls. Maybe someone jumped the fence I would love to see pictures

Also, what size is he? You can rule out certain breeds by size. I.E. a dog with newfoundland/bernese will be massive. a dog with pit bull or border collie will be on the smaller end of medium....

Emmitt is definetly on the smaller end of medium so far anyways. He is 8 months and about 43pounds and 22 inches tall. I guess I would consider him petite. He definetly has the boxer body with the deep chest and the tucked in waist. He is not skinny and not fat. VERY fit looking. Kinda reminds me of an 80's bodybuilder actually.
