What is in my bag of EVO???

Two days ago when I was feeding Cami I was scooping the EVO RM out of the large container that I store it in and putting it in her bowl. She prefers her food slightly moist so as I am letting the water warm up I glance down into the bowl.
I see something pink on a piece of the food. Not thinking anything of it, I just picked that piece of food out and threw it away. The pieces are small and the "pink-thing" was even smaller.
Last night when I was again putting food in her bowl I take another peek at the contents. I notice what appear to be tiny particles of some material. I search thru the rest of the food in the bowl and find more "things" embedded in the morsels. To me they appear to be fine pieces of nylon. It reminded me of the color, texture and size of a tag connector that is used by stores to put price tags on clothing. (Hope that makes sense).

I pull all of the pieces out that I could find. Tonight hubby feeds Cami her dinner and since I had already mentioned my earlier finds to him he checks out the food himself. He deems the stuff sticking out of the food to be HAIRS!! Of course we don't know for sure and as far as I am concerned the "things" are too thick to be hairs.....but I am not really thinking about what types of animals are used in the process of making the food so I suppose that it *could* be.

This is totally grossing me out and making me worried about what I am feeding her. Hubby wants me to call the manufacturer and tell them. I just want to throw out the stuff and get something different. Has anyone else experienced this?

That is weird! I'm on our first bag of EVO and now I'll be looking closer.

I have to say this food has been great for a couple of things, not the least of which is that the eye boogies are GONE!! Plus they love it. But finding foreign stuff in the food would make me think twice. Hopefully it's an isolated incident.

I think you should stop feeding the food AND contact the manufacturer. They need to know!

If it is plastic of some description, then it will be FAR from the first time that that sort of thing has appeared in dog food. Many brands have had that sort of issue in the past (I think this is the first time I've heard of it with Innova).

But it is a quality control issue that could have serious consequences. The manufacturer needs to know about the problem, so that they can fix it and effect any recall necessary. I dare say, you'll also get your money refunded and/or a replacement bag of food. But the big issue is ensuring that they're aware of the problem (somebody else might not notice and keep feeding it to their dog, and depending on what it actually is, that could be a big problem!). So please do let the manufacturer know (and don't throw it out - they'll need the food for analysis).

I will be calling the manufacturer this afternoon. The only problem is the fact that since I store the food in an airtight bin I no longer have the bag, hence any pertinent numbers to give them regarding dates/times/batch# etc....
Hopefully they can figure out some of the specifics due to the location of purchase.

I've been feeding mine EVO for the past few months and haven't had any issues.... like others mentioned I would definitely notify the manufacturer! Maybe you can bring in a sample to the store and see if they have any other bags? They may be willing to open another bag (not sure though) and see if there's the same issue in another bag.

I used to feed Evo. Even though you keep it in an airtight container you are supposed to keep it in the bag. A pain but they SAY that nutrients are lost in the plastic container and they use a special foiled bag that helps with freshness.

At least that is what I read here on BW.

I contacted the manufacturer. They can't do anything. I literally have no proof that what I have is EVO. No bag, no proof. Of course they have never had any other customers with my concerns.
I went to the store that I purchased it at. They can't do anything either. I have no receipt, no bag. No complaints from other customers.
As far as not keeping the food in the bag but placing it in an airtight container.....The "special foiled bag" only guards against nutrient loss due to sun exposure.... PER the manufacturer.
The reason that I started using a different container to house the food was due to the fact that the bag would deteriorate with each opening and closing and would get silver sparkly stuff all over my hands, the counter and everything else it came into contact with.
Picked up some different food as well as another bag of EVO. Hopefully this was a one time thing, (haven't opened the bag yet). Will know tomorrow morning!

I used to pour my kibble in from the bag to plastic airtight containers until I realized the kibble is in direct contact with the plastic and can absorb nasties from it. I now place the original bag in a plastic airtght container. This is still airtight but the kibble is less likely to absorb anything.
