I am new here and am having a hard time figuring out how do do things like post my introduction. I dont even know where to start or what to do. I will though re-read the rules and do my best to "post my introduction". I'm not sure what that means, but I am though excited about finding out. Thanks for pointing it out,I dont want to do anything to jeopardize our membership here @ boxer.com. Thannks again Rick

Hi Rick -

Simply go to the Introductions Forum here http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2 and create a thread telling us a little bit about yourself. It will give us all a chance to get to know you and say "hello".

hi

I just wanted to add one more thing about the bell training. Make sure that once your pup is old enough to "hold it" you start removing the bell during the night...if you don't, you may experience 2am potty calls. I can only speak from personal experience, my Copper was waking me up everynight anywhere from 1am to 6am. I then began taking the bell down after his last potty break. Things have been great ever since. As a matter of fact he doesn't use the bell anymore...he just comes to get me. GOOD LUCK!!!

I hope I haven't scared you away :) We had a terrible time with Dylan, they got infected, he was so miserable, he was such a happy boy, then for a few days he was just so miserable.........how could I have done that? Is all I kept saying, right then and there I vowed never to do it again. We just didn't have a good experience with it. I am only speaking of my own experiences, I don't wish to en-courage or dis-courage you. When we had Roxie done, she was fine and acted like nothing was wrong, you just don't know. He was the last one I had cropped, I like the look both ways, however after what he went through, to us it isn't worth it. I guess now I look at it as a personal choice and everyone certainly has the right to do as they wish, I don't feel that it's necessary and it doesn't hurt them in any way to NOT have them done, soooooooo.......Best of luck! :)

We use bell training. We have bells on the kitchen door for when we are watching t.v., cooking or just hanging out, be prepared they figure it out quickly. They use it just to go play not just for potty. We didnt use bells in the bedroom till a few months ago. We had him in the crate at night till he could hold it. he has only rang the bell at night once, when he had an upset tummy.
As for the ears, we did it and have been pleased. It was very low maintenance for us. We took him in for check ups and had the dressings changed there. we have been very pleased, and think he looks very handsome with his ears done. it really is a personal choice, do what is right for you!

Sorry it took sooo long to respond. We haven't had a chance to log on to BW or anything actually! Busy with a lot of work and a new puppy! We want to thank you so much for your feed back. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with ear cropping. We have just heard so many different feelings on the subject and still have a lot to think about. Your response has helped us a lot......thank you again!!

Thank you for your response. I can just picture our puppy "Harley" ringing the bell every time he wants to see us jump out off bed for a good laugh. This is his personality...he cracks us up! As far as the ear cropping, it was nice to hear that you had a good experience. We're still pondering! Thank you so much!!!
