Hi. Could someone give me some ideas of treats? I know the veggies & fruits but all the bisquits and sticks seem to have molasses or corn syrup or something not good. Thanks. Maureen

Mine LOVE bully sticks. That would be their number one treat. Second to those would be yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna brownies, bow wow birthday cake, sardines, and raw chicken backs. There are alot of things at the stores to choose from, but most of them are made of crap. Another thing they love is peanut butter. Just remember never to give rawhides!!

I've started giving mine yogurt drops as treats, found at Petco or Petsmart. They also have peanut butter drops. Another good choice would be freeze dried liver treats.

I agree with all of what Abbey said. Champ loves all the same things. I don't buy much store stuff, other than freeze dried liver, or freeze dried tripe. He gets cheese, low fat peanut butter, low fat cream cheese, yogurt, regular american cheese, apples, bananas, eggs (no more than 2 weekly)
Bully sticks are a favorite of his too, but that is to keep him busy...it's not a "here's a little snack" kind of treat. i also give him raw bones (mainly when I want to watvh a movie or something)...
oh - and Newmans' Own Treats - no soy, corn or wheat...he loves them.

Very funny - I go to the dog park with some of these things, like Newman's Own, and the other dogs won't even touch them. Guess it's just what they've been fed - all these treats with tons of CRAP to make them taste good - so they hate the REAL good stuff

Sascha is begging like a champ right now, cause I just put all her treat bags by the computer, so I could copy in ingredients :) But some great treats to try are:

California Natural Health Bars: All human grade ingredients. Lamb Meal, Rice, Oatmeal, Flaxseed Meal, Lamb Fat(preserved with mixed tocopherols, ascorbic acid and rosemary), Natural d alpha-tocopherol(source of Vitamin E), assorted other vitamins and minerals. Go to www.naturapet.com and look them up under treats for more info.

Sams Yams - these are freeze dried sweet potatoes. That's it. That's the only ingredient. www.frontporchpets.com. A great alternative to rawhide.

Real Meat(Brand) Beef Jerky Treats - all natural free range farm raised beef, 95% meat, no fillers. Ingredients: Beef, Chicory, Lecithin, Sea Salt, Mixed Tocopherols, Garlic. www.canz.com They make several different kinds(lamb, venison etc.) and these are fairly small and great for training. I do worry a little about the salt in these though, so I just watch how many I give her.

I have another really great treat that I am out of right now. They are freeze dried chicken tenders. Again, that's the only ingredient. Next time I buy some I'll post the makers website. Anyway, Sascha loves all of these, and, as far as I know, they are all really good for her. Have fun!!
