What is a bremmer boxer?

I was looking at breeders and came accross this site that said they offer "bremmer boxers"? Ive never heard of that. The webiste is really nice and it looks like they are a reputable breeder, but they also advertise the kind of boxers we all know don't exist. That made me very doubtful of them after that, sad because the rest of their resume looks good.

I've never heard of that either, is it possible that was a last name or kennel name of a past breeder?

I went looking around out of curiosity since I have never heard the term "bremmer boxer" either. I came accorss a website offering bremmer boxers, and apparently they are oversized boxers. Sounded like a flashy BYB to me.

Just a gimmick to make the uninformed buyer think they're getting something extra-special. They state they're "working to bring back" the large Boxer - but I'm not sure from where they're trying to bring it, since Boxers were never over 90 lbs! :rolleyes:

I went to that site again and read that also. I must have missed it before I posted. I agree, boxers arent supposed to be that big. I read a bit more and found out the breeder's last name IS Bremmer. I guess for someone who did'nt know better, they would be really impressed with this breeder. I can't believe they claim to have 30 yrs experience and STILL advertise LARGER boxers and the color that does'nt even exist! I'm glad I know better.

I finally had to take a look for myself. These people IMO are nothing but back yard breeders/puppymillers. I did not see one statement on checking out the prospective new owners. A HUGE red flag there. However, there was a large page devoted to how to pay and make deposits for a puppy. Also I did not see anything about heart testing from them or their "veterinarians".

One other comment was "Our kennel is AKC inspected and approved". The AKC only inspects kennels that are producing over seven litters in one year and they do not "approve" a kennel, just check paperwork.

This is one more "breeder" I would stay far away from. Sadly, anyone can call themselves a breeder.

In defence of 'the color' they are talking about, it is the face mask with no white, not the WHOLE Boxer (fruther down the page they say what colors Boxers DO come in, and don't mention THAT color). But don't get me wrong, I'm not defending them...
I read the rest of the site, and the part that got me is where they say : "Actually, we no longer accept visitors at all." They claim they do this to keep the kennel disease free... sounds kind of 'fishy' to me. I would want to see where my pup comes from! Also they say "Other than the occasional trip to the vet clinic, our dogs never leave the premises".... how awful to never get to go to a park or meet other dog breeds... sounds like poor socialization to me. Oh, and don't even get me going on the fact that they have the heating/air conditioning on at all times... any of you people out there who work in office buildings with recycled air conditioned/heated air know all the allergies/colds/viruses etc!!! These people sound awful!!!
HMMM... now I've just been to the "Purchase Information" page and it DOES mention THAT color of pup, unless they were using short form about the mask... still pretty doubtful. Yep, these guys sound like a 'breeder' to stay away from for sure!

Uh huh. And that would be why on the puppy page they say "You will be required to choose the litter, gender and color (for example: fawn, brindle, or black)...
And why you can add a black puppy to your shopping cart for 20% more than the legitimate colours :rolleyes:

For anyone unaware of it, it is genetically impossible for a boxer to be both black and purebred, just as it's impossible to get a harlequin rottweiler. The required genes do not exist within the purebred gene pool. If it's black, it *must* be a mixed breed.

I think quite enough attention has been given to this particular puppy mill.
