What I have learned from my boxers:

1. That I didn't laugh enough before getting them.
That my husband didn't laugh enough either.
2. That a clean house isn't THAT important.
3. That nothing beats a good game of playing ball. :D
4. That there is room for 3 boxers and ME on the couch. ;)
5. That boxers really, really like Cheeto's and so do I. :D
6. That life is less complicated than I thought, it took Hammer to show me that and I love him more for it everyday! :D

And possibly the most important thing:

7. That there are many boxers in need of help, and that I do have the time and ability to help and make a difference in the lives of dogs less fortunate than my own (who are terribly spoiled these days)!

Tegan and Owen have taught me alot about myself. They have taught me:
- that I can be a patient person
- that they will love me no matter what I do
- to stop, relax, and not take things too seriously
- nobody is perfect (and to stop trying to be perfect)
- to laugh
- that it's OK to have an untidy house, dog toys are part of the decoration!

They have also taught me SO much about dogs. How dogs interact and communicate, I find this so facinating. They have taught me about dog nutrition, dog health, BTB's, ...

They have challenged me is so many ways to. I have broken out of my shell to teach agility (I was a VERY shy person), they have challenged me to open up and let love in.

I think my dogs have made me a better person. I love the quote " be the type of person your dog thinks you are".

My boxers have taught me that companionship, a healthy diet, and ample exercise are the most important factors of living a happy and healthy life. They have also taught me about the importance of commitment. I would go above and beyond for them, they deserve nothing less :)

Having boxers past and present has taught me that love is not conditional. The pups have taught me unconditional love. They love no matter what. I am more focused on them than myself. I will sacrifice anything for my pups. Even when plans get interrupted because of an emergency vet visit. the love they return is worth more than anything. Messy house, extra work, vet bills, snoring, all that goes with it. A cold nose snuggled up with me on the couch = priceless. No price can be put on the love they share and have taught me to share. My best friends.

They've taught me so much more than I ever could've imagined.

I have learned that 5 minutes apart can be along time.

I have learned that I can live with just about any smell coming from the back of the car.

I have learned that no dog park is to far away.

I have learned that every morning when I wake up that I have more love within 5 feet of me than most people will have all day.

Butch taught me how stubborn a Boxer can be! And that I should not hit Zoe with a rolled newspaper.

Zoe taught me to laugh at 6am, and did it every day of her life.
Both of them taught me to enjoy being outside on a beautiful day, not neccesarily doing anything, just enjoying. And to notice how a person or animal is feeling physically and emotionally. (Butch told me when he was ready to die. Zoe told me what was wrong with him.)

Rico is just a sweet, goofy boy and reinforces that life should be fun.

All my dogs taught me to get out in my neighborhood and meet people, and talk with them. I would probablyn ot know any of my neighbors if it weren't for the dogs.

Patience, kindness, appreciation for simple things. Joy in life. Loyalty.

What I've Learned from my Boxer

Since having Bear, I've learned (as many, many of you have also) that it is okay to get up at 6 on Saturday morning because we will take a nap on the sofa after breakfast.....I've learned to make sure there are NO lingering dryer sheets in the house because he will eat them all....to always keep an endless supply of dog treats and paper towels, for that matter....that no car is complete without a full set of slobber marks on all windows....and no matter how bad a mood Mama and Daddy are in, Bear will always forever make us smile and laugh with his squishy baby face and big slobbery Boxer kisses!!!

My husband tried to talk me into a Boxer right after we got married in 1999 and my reaction to that was, "I don't want some big, mean slobber dog! END OF DISCUSSION." I got us a Brittany Spaniel (which I've had in the past) and she was the WORST dog because she was so spastic. We ended up giving her away at the end of 2002 and turned right around (hubby started begging again for the Boxer) in Feb. 2003 and got Bear. The first day I got on the Internet to research Boxers, I WAS SOLD! Who could resist those eyes? Every night our baby sleeps with us and I wouldn't trade anything in the world for him!!!
