What do you know about Pedigree dog food?

We are going to bring home our boxer puppy soon and I am currently researching food choices. I've read about how bad Iams and such is on here but does anyone have any input on Pedigree? I haven't found anything bad about it but I may just be looking in the wrong place. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Personally I would not go with Pedigree, mainy because their first ingredient was Corn, and because their second ingredient is a by-product. It is not very good nutrition...

I would suggest checking out some other brands that your local feed stores will sell, some petstores sell them too...like Canidae, Wellness, Innova, Royal Canin, even Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul Dog Food has good quality...there are many others too with healthier ingredients out there than what Pedigree has to offer.

You want to look at the ingredients...by-products and corn you really want to stay away from as being main ingredients. Your puppies general health and appearance benefit greatly from the food you feed. Good luck searching for the right brand for you!

Try doing a search, you'll find a ton of information in the feeding forum. But I would NOT feed Pedigree.

Thanks! After reading your replies I searched a few suggestions mentioned and I think I'm gonna try the Chicken Soup. Sounds like a good fun and a fav. among the dogs.

Every kind of food our puppy liked gave her diarrhea, and I think the Pedigree canned was the worst. She wouldn't eat the most expensive and wholesome kinds. I cooked rice and chicken or ground beef for her for months! Finally we tried the Pro Plan, which she will eat dry if she is hungry enough, and I can add a small amount of the canned to moisten it without it upsetting her stomach. She is now a year and a half and doing well, very healthy on the Pro Plan. We fed Iams dry and Pedigree canned to our last boxer and she died at 8 of a brain tumor, so I would stay away from Iams for sure. Good luck with your puppy!
