Do you let your dogs have raw hides every once and a while or no? If you dont, Please tell me why, I hope its not hurting my boxer to have raw hides rarely..

.. He got a raw-hide bone for x-mas.. should i take it away?

I do not like them onced chewed on they get really slimmy & gross.. I also do not like pig ears.. I had a really bad experience with those .. Brandy ended up getting samonella and became really sick. The raw hide just hasn't held up well for any of my babies.. keep an eye out and if you see this you may need to them away. I wouldn't think they would be very good to digest either.

I like the nyla bones they seem to hold up for a long long time and the kongs are indestructible.

Many people at BW will advised you not to feed rawhide, they are a chocking hazard and if ingested are not digestable. My vet thinks cody had a piece in is stomach at one point and ittarted him. We give soup boines instead from the food store

My guys get them now and then but supervised. When they get soft I take them away till they harden up. When they get small I throw them out. Theres nothing like a good marrow bone!

They are a choking hazard. I never give them. Or pig ears either. I give mine lamb ears, but only when I am there to supervise.

We had to switch from rawhide because I learned here that it was bad for them!! We give them bully sticks now and I just got the bad cuz for Ali who is an aggressive chewer we also just tried the filled sterilized shin bones which to my surprise they loved! I completely forgot they get soup bones as well but I have to watch Ali because she will get that bone down to tiny and we have to take it away!

I give mine raw hides all the time. They love them & have been eating them over 4 years with no problems at all. My dogs are big time chewers & are great about chewing them down until they are very soft & smaller peices, so I don't worry about them gulping down big chunks.

I mostly buy the pressed rawhide "sticks" that are about 10 inches long.

I also these excellent "retriever rolls" that are about 4 inches around & about 12 inches long & are flavored with natural vanilla oil.

I don't leave chews for them when I am not around, but we haven't had a single problem. Like I said though, my dogs aren't gulpers.
