what do i need to do so my house doesn't smell like dog?

basically like the title says what do you do so your house doesn't smell like dog, how often do you bathe them? how often to vacume the house? i some times use that powder but its a pain to clean the vacume after i use it. also the room both my dogs sleep in bed with me and some mourings i can really smell dog. just wondering what i need to do to help this out.

Well, with three dogs this is sometimes a problem, but.
I vacume every single day ( I always have though, not just since weve had dogs). They all sleep in bed with us, so , I strip my bed twice a week instead of once, not because they are dirty or I can smell dog, I just don't wanna smell dog . My Hubbie and I do clean our carpets twice a year, every year when we spring and fall clean we do the carpets, we have a carpet steam cleaner. We have all hardwood and tile in most of the house, so we do the area rugs and the bedrooms are all upstairs, they have carpet. Other than that, I really don't do anything to "them" per say, They get a bath every other month, any more than that their skin gets too dried out. Good luck!!! Hope this was helpful

It is worth noting that most of what creates that "dog smell" is their saliva. So keeping clean anything they slobber on is going to help your cause more than worrying about hair

i am paranoid about that 'doggy' smell. I VAX my carpets every couple of months, changes bed sheets twice a week and also i change the sheet on Elvis bean bag twice a week. I constanly have a plug in air fresherner on and hoover my carpets every morning.

Everyone who comes to my house is amazed it never smells like dog, but its hard work to keep that up!

Learned something else today - I never knew this - I'll bear it in mind when Biff reaches the "slobbering" stage !

BTW, my vet says the slobbering is an "individual" thing as opposed to a "Boxer" thing............

Though I'd also note that it depends a little bit on your definition of "slobber" too. Some people just think drool - and most boxers don't go around drooling all day long. But boxers certainly lose saliva from their jowls more than most other dogs (probably just because more gets trapped there). So after drinking, for example, there's leakage for quite a while after (and that leakage certainly has saliva in it!). And most of us who own boxers find we're continuously cleaning "bits" off the walls that are mysteriously right at boxer level. Call it slobber or not, they're there and they've got dog saliva in 'em

I am one of those people who love to clean, and love the smell of a clean house! I like to clean about everday (washing floors, surfaces, and vacuming) One thing I do besides my plug in air fresheners is this: I put dryer sheets in all my registers (change every 1-2 weeks), I purchased "Bissell carpet cleaner for pet oders", I put this liquid in a spray bottle and diluted it with water, and spritz my carpet, furniture.. everything with it!! I put a small amount in a conatiner with warm water, and use a cloth to wipe down the slobber marks off the couch! ( I do this once a week or so), and I wash all dog bedding maybe once a month, along with there bath. Also with Kirby I wipe his feet with a towel when hecomes from the outside, just incase he might have stepped in something! Best of luck to you!

I've always found that by keeping their beds, towels, soft toys etc clean we have no doggy odour problem. I hoover every day and the dogs don't get bathed that often (they don't need it) - they do go out for their walk in all weathers and we find a long walk in the rain keeps them as clean as a bath. I do appreciate that all dogs are different though and I have came across some with very strong smelling saliva - our 2 don't have that problem luckily.

I vacuum all carpet every day. Carpet is shampooed twice a year. Sweep and damp mop all vinyl and wood floors daily. Furniture is vacuumed every other day. Our bed is changed twice a week. I wash Bayleigh's bedding once a week. I am also a Febreeze freak. I spray the furniture, carpet and around the room every day after I vacuum.

I haven't noticed a smell from saliva...just the FRITO FEET!

Ever try burning some oil. I burn oil in my house using my favorite scents and the smell can last for days. I hear burning Eucalyptus oil helps wtih flees and peppermiint helps with getting rid of mice.
