As ineffective as it may sound, what you can do is to ignore him (not the peeing, the dog).

Submissive or excitement peeing is actually reasonably common in puppies and adolescents. And if you make any fuss of the dog, or his peeing, it just adds to the problem. It is more effective to ensure that nobody (especially guests) gives the dog any attention until he has calmed down a bit and can manage to greet guests with less excitement. Attention includes speaking to him, and even making eye contact - better that he just doesn't exist until he's got a hold of himself. Obviously, if you can give him a potty trip outdoors before or immediately after guests arrive, that would also be helpful.

Isn't that a lovely problem...

My Rocky is 13 months and does this too. But, only when males are coming into the house. I try to take him onto the porch when they get there, tell them to ignore him and then let them go in before him.

Hope it will end as he matures, but if not this solution is not so bad.

Good luck with your guy!

Henry peed right into a lady's briefcase as she bent down to pet him when I was at the airport picking up DH. She was on her way home from a business trip and said it was the most fun she'd had all week and she was looking for a good excuse to trash all of the paperwork LOL.
Hang in with the ignoring - it does work. Henry grew out of this at around a year old. Prior to that he was peeing EVERY time anyone came in to the house. It just seemed to get better as he got older.

I thought mine would never quit submissively peeing. She has had bladder infections her whole life, which has not helped! She finally quit a few months ago. She'd pee even when someone would walk by her. It will end at some point. Until then just keep paper towels and rug cleaner on hand. BtW the dog in question just turned 1 year a week ago.

I just had to add my story about what happened last night.

Well, When we first adopted Rocky I was so in love with him that I let him basically be in charge. Now, I am realizing the value of training and putting him in his proper place. Even dh has commented how great he has gotten in the last few weeks. Well, we had friends over last night and he DIDN'T PEE! I was behind him giving him commands and he just sat down and looked at the MALE guests, no less, as they entered. I think he was more confident in himself. I am so proud of him!!!

So, my point is that maybe along with the ignoring, some "company training" would be of a help?

Anyway, good luck!

my friend has a dog who does this. When i go to her house i have to ignore the dog for at least a half an hour or she will get excited and pee. i think the best thing to do is just to not show any kind of attention.
