I keep having this nagging feeling that my babies are bored... Here is their normal routine... plus it's winter now and I'm 6 months pregnant... BooBoo is now 3-1/2 and Courage is 1-1/2.. Does this sound like a bored boxers' life or am I just being crazy...

1) get up in the morning when I do and waits for me to feed them
2) goes out to do their business, then hop back into bed for a quick nap
3) I put them outside at 9:30am when I go to work, there's lots of toys in the yard and a sand pit and dog house... but I doubt they play all day.
4) I come home 8 hours later and let them back in...in which they are very excited for about 5 minutes
5) lays down quietly at the edge of kitchen floor waiting for their dinner
6) eats dinner then likes to go into the living room on their own and wrestle with each other as they lay there
7) lays on the couch for naps as we eat our dinner
8) goes out for a walk with Dad when he's done with dinner
9) lays on the couch for the rest of the night with sporatic trips to the yard
10) I call them to bed and they drag themselves from the couch to their bed

I have to agree! if they were bored they would probably be taking the house and yard apart!

That sounds very similar to Tae's schedule, but she has no fur brother to play with. We do play some fetch after dinner.

I like to take Tae with me when I run little errands in the evening that do not involve leaving the car. I think those trips make her day! Last night the big excitement was an R-I-D-E to the vet's to be checked for a urinary tract infection. Sometimes I take her to the drive-through car wash. That, she loves!

For some variety, if you are concerned (=feel guilty), could you leave them stuffed kongs once a week or something. Stuffing and freezing them makes them last a long time!

What really gets me is that bored Boxer look. I'm sure everyone knows what I am talking about. They lie there, head on the floor, just looking at you as if to say "I am soooooo bored."!!!

That's exactly what I'm talking about... I don't feel bad when they are trully napping, but it's the times when they're just laying there looking at you with those sad eyes...

I do feed them kongs and raw bones once a week or so. Plus we take them to the dog park on the weekends or to the beach. I guess either I convince the DH to install a net accessible camera in the back yard so that I can see what they're up to in when we're gone... or just be happy that they are not acting up and getting into trouble...

The only good thing is that I'm staying home after the baby arrives... so I'll be able to give them more attention than they've ever gotten before...

Yes its that look that makes you feel so guilty!! I'm off with a pulled muscle in my back and have spent most of the day in bed with an ice pack. Low and behold Ozzy's little head at the bottom of the bed just laying there with his ball in his mouth. Ryker just sleeps on the floor at the foot of the bed groaning and moaning.

Trust me - you would know if they were bored. Ronin get's into EVERYTHING when he gets bored - be it shoes, kleenex out of the wastebasket, my daughter's toys - nothing is sacred when he wants some action  Sounds to me like they're just tired - and a tired Boxer is a GOOD Boxer :)

The only times that I have noticed Barlow being bored is with toys. He has a small attention span when it comes to toys. Other than that he is very active, actually the only time he stops is to catch a breath. Half the time I have to coax him into eating in the afternoons, by sitting beside him. Bored never~It's "Burn" city around these parts. When he does slow down it's bedtime and most of the time with a lil nudge from us he goes onto bed.

My Otis is the same way. If he's bored...he's being bad. If he's lounging, then he's tired and being good!
