Jake my 14 week old has wet the bed for the second time since we had him. He sleeps in bed with us. The thing is though, he isn't waking up to pee. He just "wets himself". He had kennel cough before so he would wake up in the middle of the night coughing so at that point I would let him out and everything was fine. Now he sleeps so soundly through the night he isn't waking up to pee. He hasn't been napping during the day like he was could that be why he is sleeping so soundly through the night?

PS Anyone know how to get pee out of a featherbed, I think I might need to bring it to the dry cleaner.

Your a brave one, I haven't dared to let Kora on the bed with us at night yet. It sounds like he has tuckered himself out so much during the day that he just konks out. I do know that you should take your featherbed to the cleaners though. Make sure you tell them it has dog pee on it so they can use the stuff that gets the smell out.
Good luck

Not if he's crated. When we're home, we let him out every couple of hours and if we don't he'll have an accident.

Lately, either my husband or I have been at home during the day so he hasn't been crated and he's pretty active playing with our other dog.

I asked about him going often because we had concerns about our puppys need to go to the bathroom too much. I thought it was a puppy thing and that he would grow out of it. So we waited until after he was nuetered to see if it got any better. It didn't so we took him to the vet and they tested him(urine and blood)and found out that he has kidney problems. That was three months ago and he's doing fine it's just that he can't hold it more than three hours. So we have to leave paper down in the kitchen if we are going to be out any longer than that and we have to take turns waking him up at night to go. We've gotten used to it now so it's just part of his care. He's our baby so I would do anything for him. It may not be a bad idea just to ask your vet about it. It may be nothing but it's better safe than sorry. Hope all goes well for you. Brutus' Mom.

I have had similar problems with Susie. Sometimes when we would go to the park and play for an hour or so, they'd be so tired and hot and thirsty that they come home and drink and drink a whole bowl of water and then pass out. Then Susie would pee in her sleep, not waking up until she felt the wet on herself. It was frustrating but, I decided that I would give them some alternate ways to cool off, rather than drinking and drinking and drinking. So, I now let them come in, have a 'decent' drink of water and then I call them to me and tell them "enough for now" and ask them to lie down and rest for a little bit. They do and rest and relax and cool down that way, rather than trying to drink enough to cool them down all at once. Since I've been doing that, they rest for about 10 minutes, then get up and drink again, but they drink a reasonable amount and don't glut themselves. We've had no further accidents since I began this, so hopefully teaching them another way to cool down was the solution for me.

You might want to restrict water intake before bedtime. When Maggie was a pup, I would take up the water at about 8:00pm and we had out last outing for business at about 10:30pm, so she went before bedtime and didn't have water from 8:00 until the next morning. Worked well and we never had any accidents at home over night.

Also, if he is still on meds for kennel cough, this could be causing him to sleep thru his urges to pee. And, antibiotics often make dogs pee more than usual. I know Susie is on meds for her epilepsy and she pees twice as much now as she did when she was not on medicatinos.

Good luck.
