I see that most brands offer both wet and dry dog foods...any recommendations for using both? Would I mix the two together at each meal or alternate?

One other question, how much and how often should a growing puppy eat?

Thanks so much...trying to figure this all out before we bring our boxer home!

If you wanted to mix the 2 at each meal that would be fine – they are both nutritionally balanced. But keep in mind that if you start doing that he may never eat plain kibble b/c the cans tend to taste better to them. I don’t know what you plan on doing in the long run. I personally would suggest mixing the 2 at each meal – or mix a little with the kibble at least.

How much to feed depends on what brand of food you are feeding. Each food will give guidelines on the packaging. Start with that and spread it out between 3 meals - you can go to 2 meals when he's about 4-6 months old or sometimes they will stop eating lunch on their own.

Thanks for the response. I plan on trying th Chicken Soup. I would like to use both wet and dry and maybe when the pup gets alittle older just slowly stop using the wet or just cut back to once a day with it. But generally a puppy should eat 3x a day and then cut down to 2x??

Is there a reason why you would start with wet and dry, then go to all dry? I don’t feed all kibble (I half homecook) so I’m not one to recommend it ;) so I personally would say stick with the wet also. I feel they like it better and it spices up the boring old kibble. You can rotate can flavors.
But yes, he definitely needs to eat 3x a day if you’re you bringing home an 8 week old puppy, or around that age. You can go to 2x a day around 4-6 months, unless the pup lets you know he’s done with lunch younger, sometimes they will stop showing interest in the 3rd meal at a certain age.
