Just curious about Sharon Woods....isn't it a requirement that all dogs must be on a leash? If so how will they all play?

If they are off leash, but not in a fenced in area I will be scared to death that Cami will totally forget her recall when around so many fun boxers! She seems to forget me when she is caught up in the moment among friends!

P.S. Is this for BW members only or are other boxers allowed? Just curious, Cami has 4 boxer buddies but I didn't want to invite them until I asked.

I think the more the better! I am going to try really hard to be there tomorrow at 1 p.m. I don't think Duke would run with so much action but I cannot predict him as he is a wild man!

I will check the forum in the a.m. before I leave for the outlet malls.

Ok, so the more I think about this the more nervous I get, (yes, I tend to be a worry-wart!). I feel sorta anxious about having Cami at such a big park without a leash. I know that she will have a ball with all the other dogs as she pretty much loves everything, but I know that I won't have any control over her without her leash in all of the excitement.

Probably won't be able to sleep a wink tonight trying to figure this all out. DH agrees with me in the fact that she will become deaf and blind to us once she see "puppies!" We can't even say puppies in her presence as this is her clue to any dog. She is such the social butterfly.

What to do, what to do......

Anyone else worried about their dog's recall while off leash?

Cami, I was concerned about that also. The fenced in ball park seems ideal. Are you sure dogs are allowed in them though?

Sadly we can't make it tomorrow. A family situation came up that needs our attention. Maybe the following week.

The park that has the baseball fields (fenced in) do allow dogs. There is nothing going on at them this time of year (sometimes small children soccer games) but those are away from the fields.

I see people there all the time allowing their dogs to run free in the fields. there are not any park personell on duty there at any time.

I don't think that Sharon Woods is an "off-lead" park. I know my Ramona has never been off her leash before so I'd be afraid to even try it. I guess we will have to keep untangling leashes. I would change the venue but it seems so late that maybe we can use tomorrow as a "get to know everyone" kind of a day, then try the other place next time?

I CAN'T WAIT for the Bark Park to open this Spring!!

Well, I must have missed everyone at the park today. We didn't arrive until after 2pm and sadly it was boxerless.....We did drive by a peke however!

Cami was quite upset with not having met any of the "promised" boxer buddies! When we got home she sorta looked at us as if to say, "I got all dressed up for a car ride and a trip thru Mc D's drive thru???"

Hopefully we can get there in time for the next event.

We should be able to meet up this coming Sat. (Dec. 11th) if anyone wants to get together. I think the ball fields that Cami mentioned sound like a good choice.

I will definitly check out Sharon Woods though if it has trails and such. Rocky loves to go trail walking.

Sorry we missed you - we were freezing our tails off. I think I passed you on my way out(I thought I saw a crate in the back) - we left a little after 2. Ramona got to meet boxer friends GG and her black lab brother Lumpy, Molly and Winnie. Not bad considering no one has shown up before.


The other bad thing about Sharon Woods is that they don't allow pets on the trials. Huber Park will definately be better. I PMed several of you that I was thinking about contacting PetSmart to see if we can meet there and use their training area to let our boxers play in since the weather is getting SO cold. I'll let you know.
