Were Still Waiting

Its been over a month since we filled out our application to the rescue for the little girl. Were still waiting b/c the rescue can't get a hold of the people in our area to come do a home visit. I think their away for the whole summer :( We are in Canada and they are just over the WA border.

I know rescues take a while and I'm trying to be patient. I was just hoping that we would have had an answer by now.

It is disappointing, especially when there are so many boxers in need of good homes. Thanks for wanting her and being patient.

Jen I was wondering what was happening. It must be very frustrating having to wait for so long. Hopefully someone can do the homecheck soon and Squeaker will soon be on her way to you. :)

I feel your pain. My boyfriend and I applied at a rescue agency 6 weeks ago and have emailed about our interest in several dogs since then. We haven't gotten so much as an email confirming that they got our application. It's very frustrating to see all of these dogs that need homes while we're waiting patiently for someone to get back to us. I may try applying at another rescue agency soon. Hang in there!

Thanks gang! I know rescuing takes time. On most of the sites, they say that if you are in a rush for a dog, please do not apply for a rescue.

But I am happy to say that at least we got a response to our application. Now we just have to wait. I think alot of times, people do not get responses to their applications due to lack of resources (volunteers). It is frustrating:( but I am willing to be patient and wait it out. It may be at the end of summer when these people get back! But we'll be here still.......

Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

I know how you feel. We sent in our application and actually received a call a few days later and were scheduled for a home visit a few weeks later but it's been at least 2 months since our home visit and we still dont have our baby (she was very sick when they found her). We liked many of the boxers on the website but by the time we were approved they were gone. So, the head of the rescue found one that she thought would fit best in our family and we are still waiting on her to get better in order for us to bring her home. You definitely must have patience to adopt from a rescue, but I think it is well worth it, knowing that they have had their major health issues taken care of and that they volunteers actually know and interact with this dog on a daily basis and can make a decision on which dog will fit best in your home. I know that their lack of volunteers definitely is the cause of the slow responses...so maybe we should all volunteer some of our time, at least to respond to potential adopters (not always to foster the animals)!

Yes I agree 100% I actually volunteered to this rescue as well. But because they are in Washington State and I am in Canada (just over the border mind you) I still have to wait for my home check even before I am able to help the rescue. What they want me to do is to do home visits on this side of the border for potential adoptees. Apparently the rescue gets up to 15 dogs every 3 to 4 months and alot of applications from Canada. But they are unable to adopt them here b/c there is no one here to assist. I am super excited and want to start helping right away too!!! BUt I have to BE PATIENT AND WAIT! :)

They say patience is a virtue, but I have absolutely NONE of it when it comes to this stuff :D I am learning that there is nothing I can do about it though :) Good luck with your adoption!!

I feel that a lot of people apply on a whim for rescues after I have started working with a boxer rescue, there a hundreds of applications all that takes time to weed out who is serious and who isn't who is applying on a whim, females are a way longer wait in our rescue then males patience is a virtue, a lot of fosters need time before they are ready for homes most foster parents make sure they have spent alot of time with these dogs, most of us work and so on. then they have to find the right dog for you its a very long process but thats what makes it work.

That's a good point. I never thought about it that way. I can see how people apply on a whim and then they change their minds. That would be terribly upseting for a furkid. Funny my husband and I were gonna apply last year but then decided maybe we shouldn't b/c it may have been a spur of the moment decision. Then this time we were really ready for it. These rescues are so amazing! You volunteers are wonderful. Thank you for dedicating your time and love to these beautiful creatures!

BTW - I volunteered for Boxer CUR tonite. I've heard good things about them and am excited to help. Even if I don't get a rescue I want to know that I am doing my part!
