We're having some issues with Buzz.

He is still fighting us with the crate, he won't go potty outside when he's supposed to (I thought puppies had to go at least every hour - mine can hold it for 3-4 hours and he is 10 weeks old today), and since yesterday he's not even eating very good. He got his first set of shots yesterday so I thought that might have something to do with it. He ate at 9:00 in the morning and then nothing until 4:30 yesterday afternoon. So then when I went to feed him this morning he wanted nothing to do with his food. He ate may 1/4 cup. I came home from work at lunch time to spend the afternoon with him and he's only eaten maybe 1/2 a cup. Should I be worried? I know the potty training and the crate will eventually kick in with him but the eating part is bothering me.

Any hints?

At 10 weeks,your pup really does need to eat often.....what are you feeding? Is Buzz drinking water? You need to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated.

He's eating Iams Puppy food - which he's been on since he

was weaned. My vet approved the food, but suggested I switch to Eukaneba. He's drinking plenty of water, just not interested in his food.

Iams and Eukanuba are not great foods....you may want to visit www.dogfoodanalysis.com for some reviews and recommendations. I wouldn't worry too much as long as he is drinking water and not losing weight. I would pick up the food dish after 20 minutes and not offer it agin for a couple of hours. He'll eat when he gets hungry. If this goes on for more than 3 or 4 days or he starts to act not himself or vomit then I would definitely have to vet take a look.

Buzz's appetite is back but we're still having problems

with the crate and potty training. I really whoop it up when he goes outside which is usually first thing in the a.m. but it seems like any other time of the day I can't get him to go potty outside. We go out, walk around the yard, sniff, and then he lays down. I try to stay outside 10-15 minutes, just in case, then as soon as we come he decides to pee or poop! And with the crate, I'm trying everything and he still freaks out. He went to puppy day care yesterday and had no problems with the crate - she left the door open for him to come and go as he pleases. I did that last night - stayed with him for 45 minutes and soon as he would doze off I would barely move the door and he would wake up and walk out. He could care less about the treats or kong left in there for him - I guess I need lots of patience to get through this time.

Any advice? - I must be doing something wrong.

Buzz is still very young...it will take a lot of time and patience for several more months before he gets the potty thing down....keep working at it.

It would help if you had some kind of verbal 'request' when you take him outside so that he knows why you are outside, some use 'potty' 'go toilet', with me its 'go on'. My pups are 7 months and 12 weeks, after they've eaten or slept, I take a few bits of liver out the fridge and always say the same 'Come on, outside' then once they are all out 'go on' and they usually go pee or poop then its lots of praise and the liver treats.

Some pups don't do well with a crate. Mine arn't shut in theirs, the door is always open but at night the kitchen door is shut.
