Today I picked up a new bag of Wellness for Diesel. The Wellness sits just around the corner from Nutro. I just glanced at the price and the Nutro was $28 for 40lbs. I am paying $35 for 30lbs of his Wellness. I was kinda like woo. I shouldn't complain though. It last about a month. When I got him he was skinny and his ribs were showing. He had a cold and seemed sick. Now he is getting over his Demodex and is as happy as I have ever seen him. I believe I owe it to the Wellness.

BTW..His other owners were feeding him Old Roysmashicon

I too feed Wellness, fish and sweet potato for my lab with skin issues and chicken supermix for my boxer. I have only been feeding them this brand for about 3 weeks and I can not believe the difference in their coats, soft and very shiney and I swear the shedding has decreased!

They do make quite the poos now though:eek:. I read on here someone mixing wellness with wysong, I wonder if that reduced poo piles.

I think the health benefits outweight the cost, and I too think its worth it!

We feed Wellness too-the cat & both Boxers get it, but I am thinking about changing my kitty to something else since he is SO STINKY! I don't mind the dogs poo though since it is outside but the litter box WHOOOWEEE! All in all we love Wellness, they have great coats, etc.....

3dognight, if your dogs are pooping a lot on Wellness it might be due to being fed too much. Wellness (and other super-premium brand foods) are quite rich and so need to be fed a lot less amount than your regular food (SD, Iams, ProPlan, etc) Check the back of the bag, or their website for recommended feeding amounts and start from there. Increase or decrease amounts depending on your dog's needs.

Hope that helps.

I currently feed both (100 lb lab and 60 lb boxer) less then what is recommended on the bag. Their website also says you will see an increase in poo amounts, but I have seen some testify that after a couple of months it lessens...so maybe come spring:D we'll have less poo around the yard.

Does anyone have any problems with the size of the Wellness kibble for a medium dog? It seems a rather large size and I wonder about digestion with my boxer at only 55-60 lbs, the lab doesn't concern me. We do add some warm water to it and let it soak...so maybe mush large kibble is ok??? I feed my lhasa Wysong and noticed how tiny that kibble is, does size matter? Just wondering if anyone passed on this brand because of the size.

I do love the results of the food, so I plan to stick with it for awhile. Not to mention my local feed store has the best price I could find and provides $2 off coupons for premium brands:D

I have been feeding Finnegan Wellness since we got him 1.5 years ago and he looks great on it, his coat is so soft and shiney, we alternate between the chicken and lamb.

Nessa has allergies so we are still shopping around for a food that works for her - no luck so far :(

But for the first few months on Wellness Finnegan's poops were kind of big and very soft but when I reduced the portions slightly that improved greatly.

Have you tried the fish and sweet potato version of Wellness for Nessa, that version is supposed to be good for dogs with allergies. Our lab is eating that, though its too soon to tell if it has helped with his skin problem (I've heard to give food 3 months when trying to evaluate the effectiveness for skin allergies). The lady at the feed store said her lab had the same problem as mine, but since feeding the fish and sweet potato formula hers was like a new dog after a couple of months.

Wellness Fish & Potato

I've been feeding Wellness Fish & Sweet Potato formula for a couple of months now for Beasley and I am still waiting to see the poor little guy get some allergy relief - right now he's looking a little bit like Bob Geldolf in the movie 'The Wall' when he shaved his eyebrows off...poor little guy has now rubbed his face raw and licks his paws constantly. I can't confirm at this point that his allergies are not purely food-related, but trying lamb &/or fish-based food doesn't seem to have helped that much.

Adelle, what else have you tried with Nessa? I'm considering switching to BARF before I put Beasley through allergy testing. I don't want him to be on steroids for the rest of this life, either.

Yes I did try the Wellness Fish but it didn't help, we are still trying to figure out at this point what exactly she is allergic to :(

She is constantly tearing her face up and chew in her paws. Her allergy may not even be food related but we got to try.

She is currently on Natural Balance Duck and sweet patato - but its too early yet to know if that is helping

And prior to that we tried Pinnacle Trout formula and that didn't help either.

I am also thinking about switching to BARF eventually.
