I have a 6 month old red bitch I just want to know roughly what size/weight she should be. She was not the runt of the litter or anything but she seems to have stopped growing or really slowed down but as of yet she is still quite small. I know that I'm probably over reacting but I just want some advice.

Thanks

Mike

From my experience. Cory didn't stop growing until he was just over one. He did slow down some. Do you have skinbabies? Think of it like that. When they are newborns, they change like every other day, and then when they reach about 3-4 they seem to slow down and not grow so fast, well that is just like what happens to doggies. They grow really fast for about the first 6-8 months and then they slow down, but they do keep growing just not at the same rate. Don't have any fears. :)

Your boxer won't be finished growing until she is 2 or 3 yrs old. I wouldn't worry quite yet.

Hi, Mike! As long as your furbaby has been checked out by a Vet and was found to be healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about her growth. We didn't go through the puppy stage with our Harley because he was 13 months old when we adopted him from a Rescue place. At that time he only weighed 43 pounds and was a walking skeleton. Like you, we were extremely concerned but within 2 months Harley had gained almost 20 pounds and was shiny, muscular and healthy. He has a great appetite and is always searching for a handout. Now our problem is to make sure that he doesn't become overweight. He now weighs 65 pounds and, accept for some allergies, is quite healthy. Good luck with your baby and keep us posted on how she's doing! :)

Ali was 22kg when she was 6 months (don't know why I can remember that!) - she's now 16 months and is 25.8kg, but has been up to 26.5 at one stage. She's also quite small (only about knee high, but it's all relative isn't it?), and she's one of those thin boxers but I guess she'll fill out eventually. As long as your pup is healthy, there's not really much you can do about it!

I agree, as long as she has good vet care, I think she is fine. Lacie is what I would consider a petite boxer.

Boxer Buddy
Mike,

Daizzy was 40 lbs. when we had her spay at 6 months. She is now 9 months and weights about 50. I think she is a little on the small stature side but very muscular. She has a sister (litter mate) that is way bigger and built totally different. She also has a male boxer friend (Spike), he's only a few weeks older and she can almost walk under him.

Amaya was about 28 lbs at 6 months. She was a little underweight due to Colitis. She is now 8 months old and about 45 lbs. She is growing like a weed now that we have her on special food and colitis medication.

Megan is only 5 months and is almost 40 pounds and she is not over weight at all. In fact you can count her ribs, sometimes I think she is too skinny. :)

I think it is hard to say what a normal weight for boxers should be they all vary.
